1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Working on a Vintage Quilt- Need Advice on: April 04, 2009 05:58:21 PM
I was given a beautiful vintage quilt top from my grandmother while I was home on break a couple months ago.  She has had it for years, someone gave it to her or something, and she just never did anything with it.  I am all set to start working on it as I have another break from school coming up.  The only problem is that there are a few stains and discolorations in the fabrics.  As this only the third quilt I've ever made, and the first using such old fabrics, I'm not really sure what to do about the stains.  Should I try washing them out before I put it together with the batting and backing or should I just go ahead an start quilting it?  Also, is there anything specific I should use to clean it?  Thanks!
