1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Selling Free Craftster Tutorials on Etsy & Artfire!?? on: December 02, 2009 07:09:34 AM
What's up with that? I haven't been on here for a while. But I was browsing etsy and found someone is selling tutorials. All of her tutorials can be found here. So I know this isn't a coincidence.

Did things change around here? Is is now acceptable to take someone else's work and sell it as your own?? Am I the only one who finds this unethical?

2  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Pimp My Craftster Name R2: 1 Angel FOUND. on: October 04, 2007 04:37:33 AM
Dear Swap Angel,

We need you! Please help Jesseeyore as she has been flaked on. Can you find a creative way to Pimp her Craftster name?

Thread Here

"Any other info you would like to share: I have a large Eeyore collection now- over 50 stuffed ones. I went a litle crazy on EBAY a few years ago. I don't need anymore Eeyore stuff, but I would love anything in Eeyore's colors, or even anything that evokes a sense of comfort. I like to read, and garden.
Your web address for stalkers(if any): http://www.wists.com/jesseeyore"

I will send you the rest of her sign up sheet and contact details

3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Lampwork Beads: Necklace & Earrings on: September 29, 2007 07:57:03 AM
In June I took a lampwork beginner workshop & I've been hooked ever since!

I've been renting studio time but not nearly enough! I can only really do about two hours a week. Sad

Anyway, I haven't taken too many pictures of my beads but this is a set I made with some of my beads for a swap. My first ever pieces of jewelry!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Purple bag went missing? on: August 28, 2007 01:30:14 PM
Hi,
This is the lovely bag I made for a swap... It seems to have gone missing! Sad Maybe it is just taking longer because my partner moved? Let's hope that is the only issue & that it will eventually arrive safely!

Let me know what you think & please think positive thoughts that it will arrive safe & sound!

The flower pin has one of my favorite buttons as the center! Sad
It's a purple/grey vintage mother of pearl button. Sad

Angel need for Gavagai
Her request list is here:
"I live in Uppsala, Sweden, and I would especially like stuff from...

Japan
U.S.A./Canada
Eastern Europe
India
All of Asia really
or really anywhere that isn't here  Smiley

I am especially looking for crafting supplies of different kinds, among others these (that I can't get or have had trouble finding here)...

Strange colour (other than white or transparent) shrinky dinks (I think there is a black kind); would prefer "shrinky dink" brand.

Pliers for making jewelry.

Crafting/Sewing themed metal charms (like scissors or something, to be used for making jewelry).

Funny looking glass beads, preferably bigger ones.

Silver plated chain to make necklaces and other jewelry.

Silver plated copper wire (I think it is). I'm going to use it to crochet jewelry with and try to make a nestlace. I think it's supposed to be about 0.5 mm diameter.

Other silver or silver plated wire, different sizes. (Would love this, since I have a few projects in mind)

Silver or silver plated rings with loops (kind of) to put beads on Make any sense? Also rings with a large plate (2 cm?) with sides (will try to find a link to make it less confusing) for crafting jewelry.

Kit for making animals and other creatures/decoration from beads, things like these: http://www.beadjewelrymaking.com/browse_all.html but maybe not too complex ones to start with, since Im a beginner.

A kit for some kind of craft I haven't tried yet. Feel free to PM me about that.

Would love these beads! I can't seem to order them from Sweden.  Cry http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?origin=page.jsp&namespace=browse&event=link.itemDetails&categoryId=342679&bp=8110&sku=12%2f1311&cm_mmc=Trafficleader-_-Datafeed-_-Datafeed-_-Datafeed

Glass marbles, especially of this shape:
http://www.wholesalersusainc.com/glass-squares-clear-3x3x1cm-p-702.html
The squares, rectangles and circles with holes in them on the same site are also interesting, and coloured square marbles also... Just different shaped glass thingies to put pictures behind really... and/or coloured ones for rings:
http://www.plainmabel.com/ckshop.php?item=1168&ret=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.plainmabel.com%2Fckshop.php%3Fpage%3D1%26category%3D4

Retro fabric, especially space themed (like the little astronaut one on my wist)

Patchwork fabric, preferably with squares, either real patchwork or patchwork pattern

Simple to use snap buttons, preferably bigger and/or ones that you "punch" on (rather than sew) (plastic and/or metal)

Magnetic snaps for making bags.

Handles for making bags

Like D-rings, but not like a D but rectangular... If you get what I mean and find an image that I can link to, please tell me.

Tools for working with polymer clay

Card stock with fun patterns: retro, mod, abstract...

Craft books/magazines with fun new projects (not too traditional stuff) (in English or German or with easy-to-follow pictures (well, Swedish is good as well   ))

And of course anything from my ever growing wist.

Please no food/candy, please. "

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): NO
Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
All ages allowed? Yes.
Under 16 (well everyone really! Wink), be sure you get permission & assistance where required, ie transport, financial, etc. to meet your deadlines.

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:

Are you obsessed with a particular theme so much so that you made it your Craftster name?
This is your chance to do a little stalking, and personalize and craft items for your partner based on their Craftster user name! This swap is about crafting the theme/meaning of your partners Craftster name & not the name itself. So, instead of putting "Mini" on a sweatshirt, you will knit me a mini sweater (or send me a Mini Cooper!), instead of putting "Octipii" on some stationary, you will draw some octopuses & put them on the stationary... Get it? umm.... I should say, does that make sense? ...

We will be crafting one large, one medium and one small item. Or two medium and two small items. Other combinations discuss with your partners.

Additional Rules:

You MUST get a DC Number in the US. Outside of the us you MUST send me your receipt (photo or scan).

Please acknowledge when you receive your package by sending a pm to both me and your partner AND by posting in the Swap Gallery (will post link to thread once swap is underway). Failure to communicate will be noted in your swap feedback.

I will be giving feedback comments in the following way:
-  great swapper: for those who follow all the rules
-  good/poor communication:  where applicable
-  sent late/early: where applicable
-  no dc number: failed to comply with the rule about using a delivery confirmation number for packages within your own country
- didn't post pictures: failed to post pictures of what they received without an adequate explanation to their partner

If you don't have access to a digital camera, let your partner know early on so they can be sure to take a picture before they send. It's so sad to craft something and not have a record of it.

If, for whatever reason, you are going to have to send late (or worse, not send at all - we all understand that life can get in the way of crafting.), please let me and your partner know ASAP. Avoid negative feedback by keeping in good communication and avoid having your partner send to you when you do not intend to finish the swap!!

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Questionnaire to answer:

Name of swap: Pimp your Craftster Username
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your full real name:
Complete mailing address:
Are you willing to ship outside your own country?

Tell us about your user name. (yes, even if its obvious! Wink)
Is there a Story behind your Username? What is it?
Favorite colors/combos/styles:
Un-Favorite colors/combos/styles:
What crafts do you do?
What crafts do you especially admire?
Is there any particular item(s) you would hope to receive?
Is there any item(s) you would not like to receive?

Are you allergic or sensitive to anything (ie cat hair, smoke)?
Do you have pets or do you smoke?
Do you have a problem with crafts made from animal products (please specify which, if so)?
Any symbolism or colors that should be avoided?
Any other info you would like to share:

10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help calculating for my first soap making attempt on: March 01, 2007 11:36:08 AM
Hi everyone,
Its been years since I've been dying to make soap.  I think I"m getting closer to "going for it". I've read alot about how to do it & I've seen lots of recipes. But, I have 495grams of coconut oil (solid form, like crisco) and was thinking I'd like to use this instead of an already existing recipe. Is this a bad idea? Can anyone provide a simpler calculator? The ones out there are a bit confusing. Can I use just this coconut oil or should I mix it with another type of oil?
Help. TIA,
Mini
