I just thought of something else (I don't think I said this anyway)...I don't know if I craft for this reason or if it grew out of crafting but I the sight of certain yarns, beads or embroidery flosses together..or sometimes papers, just does something to me inside. I guess the equivalent would be an emotional reaction to eating chocolate while listening to great music. I can't express it but I imagine this community knows what I mean. I think it's that understanding of what can't be expressed that makes us a community. Anyone else wouldn't certainly think I was certifiable if they knew how often I open my tin of cross-stitching floss just to look at it...or how often I fondle my scissor fobs that I made. LOLOL See? It even sounds bad. Ok..that's enough.  Roll Eyes
22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: Swapping w/ crafters who smoke? Opinions please on: March 16, 2006 04:00:04 AM
spray inside the bag lightly first put a  few things in and  pray  again  or  spray  articles  before  putting them in  and  close it  loosely  for  a few  hours (check back  spray again if  needed.)  leave it  all outside  until  you can open teh bag  witha  fresh smell coming  out.    works  every time...  stuffed animals,  couch cushions, pillows,  everything!!

Hehe, now that's faith! (sorry, that typo was too cute to pass up). Great advice, though. I stopped smoking two and a half months ago..(never pass an opportunity to brag about it either lol).  My guy smokes but only outside or in his workshop so my home doesn't smell like smoke. I have bought a few things on Ebay that stated they were from a smoke-free home. Before that I hadn't really even thought about it. Too bad there isn't some sort of packaging that would take care of that in transit.lol  Hey, maybe we're on to something. I fully expect to see it in hot new topics later today.  Grin

hehehehheheheh I'm so glad my friend's email has brought so much joy!  It has been cracking me up all day!

Secret handshake!  hehhehehehehehehehhe

Maybe I'll bead a mailbox and put it outside my cube as an in/out box......

YKYACW you think of doing that!

ETA: There's a woman in my town who mosaic tiled her entire minivan. I bet she's one of "our people" but up a level or sumpin.

YKYACW you come back to post something that happened today and you can't believe noone else has posted since you did and now on to what I came to post.

....when you're at a light and see a car go by that says "Haley Toyota" and you think of Haylie the Craftster and smile like she's an old friend...and then immediately think "I gotta post this."

It is also kind of meditative. When I am making art or working on my crafty hobbies I get lost in what I am doing and I am able to think with clarity during the making process as well as after.

Yesssss! That, too! I love when that happens.

Thank you both very much. Thanks also for commenting there, Jloveg. I appreciate it tons and I can't think of anything that would make me happier than this comment:"you read my mind and  wrote it out for the world to see".

Lynndell: I know what you mean about the ages. Gosh, I couldn't make anything when I was a teen and these folks are way, way far ahead of anything I'll ever be able to make. It's really inspiring. The old people are alright, too. :::Ducking::: Grin
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Two boring old shirts into a new Kurt Halsey one on: March 15, 2006 04:06:13 AM
I can't imagine a better use for those two shirts. I adore it. It's perfect.
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Done!!! HELP: What is it? on: March 15, 2006 04:05:18 AM
It's really cool! Maybe you could use it for a yarn bag or a neat place to hold those little bits of craft stuff that you just know you'll use later...or heck...I think it would make a great bag for anything!
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Crochet belts! TUTORIAL- on page 3 on: March 15, 2006 03:49:47 AM
I kinda, sorta made one. I didn't make it through the pretty petal thing. Once I had fairly even holes I got excited and finished it off. LOL It's the first thing other than a scarf that actually looks like I did it that way on purpose.  Anyway, I don't have any ribbon I like with it yet but ACMoore is having 50% off this week so I plan to remedy that and then I'll post a pic. Thanks again so much for this. I'm too fat to wear it. lol But I'm planning to remedy that, too. First cigarettes, now food. What's next? Air? Ok..whining over.  Grin

I like the recycling aspect of crafting. I love that I can take something that seems to have no purpose and suddenly make it new and alive. I can't really say why I started crafting but I know that I continue for a multitude of reasons. I love looking around my home and having the hardcore evidence of my time in little stitches and paint. I LOVE deciding 20 minutes before an outing that I need a new necklace...and then whipping one up real quick. I also look forward to realizing I need a gift for someone now because I know it doesn't mean running to the mall and trying to pick up something lame that they'll have to pretend to like. I can just MAKE something. It's helped me stop smoking. (almost 3 months now...woot) It focuses my mind so that I'm not thinking about regrets and bad choices or worrying about things over which I have no control. I just love it. Great choice for a paper. Thanks for including us.
