11  Re: The Summer Slamdance! IYP13 gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by Faren on: September 09, 2009 06:45:44 PM
Here is the great bag 1b1g1k2 made for my husband.

I like the way she centered the big Darth Vader and the words Revenge.

I find it amusing that a rebel helmet is in a Darth Vader bag, but you can see why it had to be a Star Wars bag! We have a rebel fabric but DH picked this fabric instead.

Clockwise from upper left: Raspberry scented fizzing bath salts, Satsuma Massage butter, Passion melon Mango butter lotion stick, Strawberry & Cream massage oil candle, Pina Colada massage oil candle.  These smell so good! I've tried the lotion stick and love it.

Great fabric, love it!
Thanks so much 1boy1girl1kitty2, I love everything!

I had a great dance with both my partners and can't wait to do it again!

Glad you are happy with everything 1boy1girl1kitty2!  I'm really looking forward to seeing the bag you made for us.  Thought I would post a couple more photos of the carded fiber it is just so pretty rolled out.

13  Re: Dragonriders Swap Redux (Signups 8/14-8/28 Sendouts 10/10) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Faren on: August 20, 2009 11:10:43 AM
Well, I have the Dragonlover's Guide to Pern, which should have fairly accurate pics as I'm sure she had to approve the pictures.  http://www.amazon.com/reader/0345412745?%5Fencoding=UTF8&ref%5F=sib%5Fdp%5Fptu Alright, in searching for a picture, I found out that apparently there are a lot of mistakes in it! But still, I think that book and the The People of Pern would be more accurate than the covers of the novels.  Here is a pic of a firelizard scroll down. This site has some other pictures of firelizards, dragonets.
I've come up with some ideas too, but I'm still working on another swap so I'll probably wait for partners.

I love everything musiclady sent, she hit my style exactly!
First, a quote holder that I asked for but so much better that I imagined.  It has a pocket to hold the extra quotes.

All the extra quotes, I know you can't read them, but I had to show how pretty they are!

I chose some and she chose some, and I love the ones she chose too. Here they all are, since I know I would be curious.

From Princess Bride:
     "As you wish" --Wesley
"People in masks cannot be trusted" --Fezzik

From Firefly:
"This must be what going mad feels like"  ---Simon
"I'm a leaf on the wind... watch how I soar." --Wash

From Star Wars:
"Sometimes I really don't understand human behavior."  --C-3PO
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."  --Qui-Gon Jinn
      "There's always a bigger fish."  --Qui-Gon Jinn

Lord of the Rings:
"A wizard is never late, nor is he early.  He arrives precisely when he means to."   Gandalf
One ring to rule them all. One ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them..
"It's a dangerous business, going out your door." --Bilbo Baggins

Buffy:
"Loneliness is about the scariest thing there is."  --Angel
"Testosterone is a great equalizer.  It turns all men into morons."  - Giles

Dead Poets Society:
"Two roads diverged in the wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the
          difference."    -Frost
"Oh, Captain, My Captain!"   -Dead Poets Society
       "Carpe Diem"
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."  - John Keating
"Sucking the marrow out of life doesn't mean choking on the bone."  - John Keating

And this last one I'm not quite sure about, I'm guessing it is from the Ringworld series.
"Magic is the bloodstream of the universe."  - High Aldwin
Love the quote though!

The note she sent, a fairy shrinky dink charm and some hand drawn cards.  The one with the snake and sheep says "What do you get when you cross a boa with a sheep?"  inside, "A wrap-around sweater!"    The puppy and yarn, "What happened when the mama dog ate a whole ball of yarn?" "Her puppies were all born wearing sweaters!"   The birds says, "Why don't crows spend all their time knitting?" "Because they're too busy Crowcheting!" This one  is my favorite!  The sheep reading, "What is a sheep's favorite newspaper?" "The WOOL Street Journal!"  I really love all of these.

The rest of the cards she sent.  And so you can see the little fairys on them, here is a close up!

If you can't tell, I'm really happy with everything!

PS. OH, NO! I can't believe I forgot this! My only excuse is I was to busy typing!

A knitted ipod/cellphone tardis! Isn't it great! There is a story to go with it too.  I was stalking her wists and saw she had a Dr. Who laptop cozy on it.  I was going to make her a Dr. Who craft because of it, but when I went back to see if she had any notes on that entry it wasn't there! So I asked her if she was a fan of the show or if I was crazy.  She said she wasn't but she was making it for a friend and had forgot to make it private so they wouldn't see it! She must have seen it on my wist, cause it was for me!  Grin  No, you didn't ruin the surprise, musiclady! And I would love it even if you had! It is the best extra ever!

Thanks guys! What musiclady didn't tell you was that the rainbow yarn was supposed to be worsted wt., but it ended up being bulky.  Not because I can't do worsted, I've done a 3 ply sock yarn before, but this was the first time I was aiming for a particular thickness. Apparently, I need to practice more. Which is a very good excuse to spin some more!  Grin So, to kinda make up for it I sent the other colorway, it is about a sport wt.

I tried to keep the colors together on the 2 plies, but you can see on the little skein to the right that contrasting colors eventually ended up together. I can't say I really like it that way. Next time I want to keep stripes together I'll do a navajo ply and adjust for yardage accordingly.
I guess I didn't take any pictures of the other colorway, I usually remember to take pictures of what I craft just cause I want to keep records of it all! I might  have to copy your pic, musiclady!

SewMamaLady, yeah, we've been having camera troubles too.  The adapter for our memory card broke, and neither Walmart or the computer store DH works for had it. So we had to order it and it just came in yesterday! I had been wondering how I was going to tell you I couldn't take pictures of your goodies!

Sorry these pictures are so dark and the colors are a bit off too.  It is raining and not much natural sunlight makes it into our basement apartment.

My new PVC Niddy Noddy, I asked for this as I knew she had made one before and I really need a bigger one!  It looks huge compared  to my old one. It will really come in handy.  The fiber is Lime-Berry Snowcone a 100% Merino.

Left: Jaden's Day from Jaden's Closet. I'm going to check out her etsy  as soon as I can! www.jadenscloset.etsy.com   Right: SSS white mill ends dyed with blue/green food coloring.

Left: SSS Grey mill ends dyed with grape and berryblue Kool aid. Middle: Dyed Mohair locks from Fire Ant Ranch. Right: Bamboo from the Fiber Lady.  How did you know I sent all my bamboo to the noodle princess?  Cheesy

A very cool card, so me! based on a Brain Froud painting, and a wee little spinning wheel charm. Are you psychic, SML? I've been looking at a set of earrings like this every time I go to Spin In, but keep thinking I really only want one for a charm bracelet. It is perfect.  I love everything and will have a lot of fun playing with everything!
I know my pictures stink, so if you want me to take different ones when the sun is out just tell me!

Alright, I'm more than a day late and a dollar short, but better late than never right? I'm so sorry Nannetta and girlosun_9 for not publicly thanking you before now, it certainly is not because I didn't love your packages!

First up girlosun_9 sent me an embroidered tea towel from my wists and it is so beautiful!

Isn't it great? Love the stitching. It will be nice to use something pretty to dry my hands!
And here is Zoey helping me take pictures again, she had to hold the black cat card. I think it is from a children's card game.

Then from Nannetta I received this adorable dragon! I love that she embroidered eyes and little claws on him! Here he is perched on my computer screen.

I also think it is amusing that in this picture I count 5 things I have received in swaps!
And here are the extras Nannetta sent, 3 postcards of Munich(love postcards!) and 2 very cute pieces of fabric.

Thank you both so much!

I just received a great package from lafemmefatale!

The whole package, besides the kanzashi flowers there were 2 pieces of Ghirardelli dark chocolate  (yum!), a hot chocolate mix and a local post card.  Isn't that an awesome building?

Close up of the beautiful flowers, she picked great fabric for me!

Hey everyone, freestyle and I did a swap awhile ago, we just forgot to post! I sent her some hand spun yarn and she sent me some wonderful stenciled napkins that I love and we use all the time.  Plus, I feel so green not using all those paper towels! Here are the pics of the yarn.
Hooray Sheep!

Yarn School colorway from Hello Yarns. Corriedale wool, navajo plyed, 155 yds
