1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn substitution help! on: July 20, 2011 08:04:07 AM
I saw a pattern in The Prayer Shawl Companion that calls for Plymouth Apollo Thick and Thin yarn.  I don't know if I've lost my touch when it comes to internet searching or if this yarn simply does not exist but I can't seem to find it anywhere.  I absolutely LOVE thick and thin yarn but finding a lot of yardage for a decent amount of $$ has been difficult.  Any suggestions for yarn substitutions?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Eloping garter from Knitty on: June 18, 2009 10:44:01 AM
I just finished making the Eloping garter for my sister who is getting married in Jamaica in July. I thought I followed the pattern correctly but the middle of my finished version looks nothing like theirs. Either way, I'm proud. I took a close-up pic in case anyone out there knows what I did wrong.

3  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Can I needle felt on a knitted hat? on: March 23, 2007 05:06:45 AM
I had this on the knitting board but someone suggested you all might be able to help, too!

I promise that I searched before I posted this question.  This may be a stupid question but I've never needle felted before so I figure it's okay.

Can I needle felt on a knitted hat that's made with acrylic yarn?  I want to make ladybug dots on a red baby hat I made.  I've deduced that needle felting will be the quickest way for me to add the dots, since I didn't do intarsia.  I also thought about knitting little i-cords and making them into circles, but that A) involves making a bunch of little i-cords and B) involves sewing all of those in.  Gross.

Can you help me?    Undecided

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Froggy hat question on: January 16, 2007 10:01:11 AM
I am using the following pattern to make a baby frog hat for a friend:

www.p2designs.com/images/patterns/set-froggy.html

I don't really want to make pom poms for the eyes, though, because I think it would be hard to wash it.  Does anyone know of another way I could make the eyeballs?  I've got a pattern for making circles but they'd be flat and not 3 dimensional.

Thanks!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Baby pixie hat pattern dilemma on: September 15, 2006 04:41:18 PM
Okay, I'm not going to CO freakin' 98 stitches on size 3 needles until I know that the crap the pattern means.

Can someone tell me when I'm actually supposed to decrease?  I've looked at this a thousand times and it's escaping me....

HELP!!!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn substitute help!!!! on: March 08, 2006 11:43:52 AM
I have a friend (no, really) who wants to make the yoga mat bag from Knit Wit.  She's having trouble with the price of the Mission Falls 1824 cotton yarn.  Does anyone know of a good substitute for this yarn?  Or has anyone made this bag with a different yarn before?

Thanks in advance for your help!!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / felting hand-dyed wool? on: December 17, 2005 06:55:26 PM
I hand-dyed some wool for knitting friends and told them that they could felt it.  Now, I have no idea if this is true or not.  I mean, I'm almost positive that it will felt but I would hate for them to follow a pattern for felting and then not be able to felt it.  Anyone know for a fact if they can do it?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Devil sign intarsia pattern...HELP!!! on: August 14, 2005 11:37:33 AM
Ages ago, I found a site that had the devil sign intarsia pattern posted on it.  Now I desparately need it and can't find the website.  Has anyone seen it or used it or authored it?  If so, puh-lease help!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / ribbed hat on circs? on: December 20, 2004 03:00:10 PM
Hey everyone!

I've got a question:  Can you make a ribbed hat on circulars?  I hate sewing a seam so I started a ribbed hat on circs (co 56 sts on size 7s using Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk).  I'm doing k4, p4 ribbing but I'm wondering what's going to happen when I start decreasing at the top.  Are the stripes going to get all wonky?  Please say no so that I don't have to knit it straight.

Thanks!
