It is knitted out of my own handspun yarns in garter stitch to show off the textures and flowers....the yarn with flowers i had in the stash for a few years cuz i dont know to do with it till i saw my other 2 handspun yarns so i said why  not  knit out of these 3 yarns and see... it does works out beautifully...isnt it?





2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Yarns dyed with lichens on: April 02, 2009 05:55:23 AM
Here is my yarns dyed with lichens

DYED WITH BLUISH GREY LICHENS/AMMONIA


Left to right

First yarn -lichen/ammonia-infused for 3 months then let unmordanted wool steeped in dye for 2 wks..

Second yarn-lichen/ammonia-infused for 3 months then used it to dye premordanted wool with alum and cream of tartar-simmered for 30 minutes and left it in for a week..

Third yarn-same as second one above but with different mordant- copper/ammonia

Fourth yarn- same as second one above but with different mordant- iron

Fifth yarn- infuse same lichen in the jar (same jar that still have some unused dye leftover and lichen with some more water added to it) to extract some more color for a few weeks then add unmordanted wool to dye and let it steep in for 2 weeks

Sixth yarn -unmordanted wool was steeped in same dye as 5th one above for a few weeks

Seventh yarn-mixed lichens/ammonia dye-unmordanted wool

the one i used to dye 1st to 6th yarns with (pink to purple colored yarns)


DYED WITH GREENISH BLUE LICHENS


Left to Right

First yarn- premordanted wool with alum/cot

Second yarn- with copper/vingear

Third yarn - with copper/ammonia

Fourth yarn- with iron


the one i used to dye these yarns (yellow to green colored yarns)

New Cuffs....They are fun to make and good use of yarn left overs...they are knitted out of my own handspun yarns .. one is embellished with buttons and beads... and another with buttons for closure.....I hope you like them as much as i do......

Both Cuffs are knitted out of my own handspun yarns.. one is embellished with buttons and beads... Another is with buttons for closure..Both are lined with cotton fabric...They are fun to make!!!  they are good for make use of yarn leftovers... Hope you like them as i do.... Cheesy

Made with Lucite beads... I have these teardrop lucite beads for years and years till i made it out of these beads...it seems perfect for that kind of necklace...
