1  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Sewalongs? on: July 13, 2004 01:11:11 PM
What if we did something cool in here like the knitalongs?  We could all work on pattern and see the wonderful variety and creativity that comes out of it.

Just an idea, but I think it would be really cool.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Animal Swap on: June 27, 2004 01:49:18 PM
I had mentioned a vauge idea of this before and have a few replies.  Now I have one more question.  If we did the animal swap, would you rather do things FOR the pets (collars, fish food containers, knitted sweaters) or animal themed projects (such as calanders, pillows, jewelry etc...)?

If there is equal interest, I might be able to swing both.
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Journal Circle Journey Swap (SIGN UP CLOSED Send out 6/28) on: June 08, 2004 04:17:51 PM
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Lissa
Sign-up date range: Today through Monday 6/21/04...two weeks.
Date to send item by: First Journal sent 6/28/04

Limited to a certain number of people?: limited to 6 (including me) due to time for the journals to make it home

Non-U.S. participants allowed? if we are able to find people to ship out of the US.

All ages allowed? I think this should be 18 and up due to some content that may end up inthe journals.  If you don't think this is okay please feel free to discuss.

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: Yup

Details of swap:

Each member in the swap will either make or buy a bound journal that will fit into a 5x7 envelope and have enough pages for each of the 6 swappers to fill at least 3-5 pages.  Please no staples as the journal must be able to handle the sometimes aggressive hands of the post office.  Each journal will be mailed in a circle with you mailing each journal to the same person.  When you receive a journal you will write a few entires in 3-5 of the pages.  This can mean writing about your day, a current issue you are dealing with, poetry, drawing a picture, describing a strange dream and so on.  Be creative and try to refrain from too much introductory information.  For example if you are explaining a dream and it has to do with appraoching a birthday, explain when your b-day is but don't add anything that isn't vital to know kind of thing.  Be sure to leave the journal with about 3-5 blank pages, no more, no less, for the person it belongs to write a few entries when it returns home to them.  This is sorta like the 1000 journals thing, but much smaller and more orginized.  You will be shipping to your partner 6 times every two weeks so it is a long term commitment but the postage won't be too expensive as the books are light in weight.

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

Name of swap:
Craftster username:
Email address:
Your real name:
Mailing address:
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

Please feel free to ask me any questions.  I am really excited about this swap so sign up quick!  Only 5 spots are available!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lolita Outfit on: June 07, 2004 04:26:12 PM
I made everything except the button up shirt although I did alter it.

I wish I had a better picture of the skirt.

I used a basic can can costume skirt pattern and attached a lot of curtain lace to the bottom and wore a premade petticoat under it.  The cape was from a Little Red Riding Hood costume pattern by Simplicity.  It has no lining so if I make another one, I will have to fashion my own lining as the seam is in the hood and it shows when the hood is down.  THe ascot was a simple piece of balck satin brocade with white lace ruffles attached to the end.  THe head piece is a triangle of balck satin with three layer lace on all three sides with lace trim for the ties that go uner the hair line.

I wish I could give better instructions but it was really by the seat of my pants with a bit of help from the patterns.
5  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Deco Swap #3 (Mail out 5/17/04) on: May 02, 2004 06:43:52 PM
I am taking over the third deco swap for the busy Bewitched.  I will keep everything the same as the first two that are currently in process.   The post office is far from an exact science so the dates won't be %100 but we should be able to stick pretty close to them.  Just be sure to e-mail your partner with a heads up if there is something going on and the book might be a bit later than you thought.

Here are the details:

because of the nature of decos, they work best with small groups, so i'm limiting this one to 6 participants. i will be participating in this one, so we need 5 people.
it's first come, first served, so PM me your info quick!

craftster user name
real name
snail mail address
email address

the proposed time line is as follows:
1 week to sign up/select and post your theme (or post that your book is theme-less)  = deadline 5/10/04
1 week to get blank book ready and sent out by 5/17/04
1 week to work on each book = mail out deadlines  5/31,  6/14, 6/28, 7/12, 7/26
everyone should have their completed book back in their possesion by 8/9photos of the completed books will be posted in this thread.

participants PM info to me, and i will PM complete address list to all participants  in the order you will be sending.
please do not deviate from this order or everything will go kablooey.
this is a moderately long term commitment, so please don't sign up if you cannot see it through to the end.

now the specs:
each book should measure between 2" and 5" (ie 2"x2" or 3"x5" or 3.5"x4", etc.) this will keep postage costs down, and be a small enough format to enable everyone to work quickly.

the artwork you do in the books should include email address, craftster name, 3 to 7 interests, snail mail address and real name are optional.
you will do the cover artwork for the book you initially send out, either before sending it or after. the book you initially send out is the one you will ultimately get back.

participants will post their chosen theme in this thread by 5/10 in order to give everyone time to think about what their artwork will be.  this should make the one week turn around time easier to deal with because you will have an idea of what you're doing ahead of time.

if you have any questions or if anything is unclear, just drop me a PM and i'll get back to you asap.
