1  School Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: April 10, 2007 08:41:47 PM
After seeing my Duck Hunt sweater, my cousin enlisted me to knit her a sweater for her highschool.

Only requirements; school colours and to have the mascot. She said a basic sweater would do...but that didn't appeal to me. Some creative altering of a cardigan pattern and voila! we have a retro varsity sweater!

I JUST finished it, so the buttons haven't been sewn on, nor is it blocked. I was a bit eager to post...

I had major issues with the mascot...so humour me and say it looks good. I lost count on how many times I frogged it...ah well. Humour. Me.

Yes...this is my attempt at a 'knitting is cool' pose.

Close enough eh? It's just that darn head...

2  Varsity sweater help in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Quacker Jacks on: February 13, 2007 10:52:59 AM
I come to you beloved Craftster knitters on bent knee. I need help.

My cousin has enlisted me to knit her a school sweater, she would be satisfied with a regular pullover, but of course, being the insane person I am I really want it to be cooler than that. I want retro varsity sweater.

I haven't been able to find a pattern, unless my cousin was a dog, in which case I would be set. So, since cousin is human I'm struggling.

Has anyone found a pattern similar to the pics below in a book or perhaps online? I would shower you with praise if that was the case.

Thanks for any directions and help!

3  Duck Hunt Sweater - pic heavy (now with charts!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: February 11, 2007 05:13:10 PM
As a child, I was slightly obsessed with Nintendo Duck Hunt. It was fantastic.

Years later, I used my new obsession, knitting, to relive my Dunt Hunt days.

Here's the results, enjoy!!

-sweater took just over a month of off and on knitting
-used old sweater pattern, drew up charts myself (minus the dog, which I found online)
-first time knitting with colour - intarsia AND stranded! wooo!

4  Thrummed mittens, AKA my Everest... in Knitting: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: December 14, 2006 08:31:30 PM
I DID IT! I conquered mittens! They're 2 needle however, so less frightening than DPNs. I'll try that next.

I used the 2 needle thrummed mitten pattern that I found linked on Craftster.

I'm pretty proud of them; I'm a novice knitter and this is my first finished project after my "learning scarf" lol.

They're for my mom but I ended up knitting the men's size because the women's were way too small (and ugly because it was my first attempt...)

Final measurements:
Men's mitten - roughly 26cm.
Women's mitten - roughly 23 cm.
(not that much of a difference but we have long fingers - the picures make the women's mitten look MUCH smaller)

Thanks for looking!

5  Lily Stencil in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: October 07, 2006 07:17:01 PM
Instead of writing my essay, I stenciled a shirt. Perfect use of my time!

I got the stencil by Googling "Lily Stencil", and I'm pretty sure it's copyrighted...*insert collar tug*. I used the freezer paper method and my usual stenciling method (stencil black outline, hand paint details).

I'm rather pleased with how it came out!

6  Cowichan Sweater Help in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Quacker Jacks on: October 07, 2006 07:08:40 PM
Hello fellow knitters,
I have been on a quest, actually the quest of all quests, to find a pattern for a Cowichan style sweater (see attached photo). They were rather popular in the 60s I believe.

I was wondering if any of you could help me locate a book or pattern?

Thanks in advance!!

7  Phoenix Sweatshirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: September 02, 2006 05:07:16 PM
This is my latest stenciling endeavor, and I love it to pieces.

The stencil was made from an image I got off Google (search for Phoenix) and I hand painted the orange base and colour accents.

I seem to be on a 'fire colour' theme lately as my last stenciling post was the koi/dragon jacket I made for my brother LOL. I think I need to expand....

The image may seem small, but it's one of those REALLY long sweatshirts that completely covers the tush. The bird fits nicely on my shoulder blades.

8  Babs from Chicken Run in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: September 02, 2006 05:01:45 PM
Oh how I heart the Polymer Clay board....

This is one of the 1st big projects I've done...it was 6 years ago so I was 14ish and rather inexperienced. I'm quite proud at how it came out, I just wish I had fabulous  places like this to teach me all the finer details of clay.

The knitting bag is hand sewn, and I just finished the knitting sample a couple weeks ago...so I guess it was a rather long project LOL.

-Body has foil core.

-legs were made using a drinking straw. Next time, I would have attached the legs better as she is rather unstable and falls...which results in tail and legs breaking off.....eek.

9  Stenciled Blazer - Koi and Dragon in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Quacker Jacks on: January 22, 2006 08:45:08 AM
I bought this blazer for my brother and stenciled it for his Christmas present....I know, I'm kinda late in posting it.

I'm pretty happy with the results - I stenciled the image in yellow fabric paint (using freezer paper), then painted the other colours by hand.

Thanks for looking!
