Thanks.. I have made several now for friends and family and one woman from France has just ordered two.  I am getting better and and better at woodburing smaller and smaller letters.  On the last one i was able to fit a phone number, name, and address on one side of the 1.5" tag.  (By the time Im done burning all that info in I can just about feel my fingers)

Thats so cute.  We have a dog named Ringo, but we call him nibbler.  or M Nibs for short.   He has this obsessive compulsive disorder where he nibbles on clothes for hours... even if you are wearing them.

Liebschien,

That is a great idea.  Unfortuantly it is past the auction now.  But I am sure I will do that for future auctions.  Thanks for the suggestions!
25  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: liability insurance on: April 02, 2006 02:54:10 PM
As far as I can tell you can only get it on a yearly basis. So if you need it for one show, then you have to pay for a full year of coverage.

I just had this come up with a show I was going to attend in May.  You can try going through your home owners insurance which would cost a lot less depending on who your insurer is I have heard you can get liability for $20 to $300 per year.  If you don't have homeowners or your homeowners doesn't offer liability for small business, then it is going to cost you about $500 for the year.  You can try any company like State Farm.

I don't have homeowners since I rent and it was going to cost me $500 and since this was the only show I planned on doing for th year it wasn't worth it for me to get it.  So I had to withdraw from the show.  More and more shows are requiring it.  Usually the liability insurance will also cover all of your supplies and materials, so if something happened to you stuff you would be covered there as well. So that is an added bonus of getting it.

Thanks alot!  all of this feedback is great.

Craftychef, I actually do some beading but just for your same feelings I dont want to sell it along with my painted items.  I think the wood and painted things create a unique line and I am so glad to hear that you all think it is working together nicely.

Thanks!  Ya i kept putting off buying one of those colored metal ones. For one thing they are very plain and boring, and the color always seems to wear off them.

I am making a few more right now to donate to a local animal shelter auction.  I dont know if I should just give poeple a gift certificate to claim a free tag ?  Since I need to personalize it I can't just give the tags to the auction.  Do you think people will bid on a gift certifacte for a tag if I just show pictures of what my tags look like?  I want to donate something that will generate money for teh auction.

Thanks jelly!   I had the same problem trying to justify to myself that home decor and jewelry went together.  So i came up with my tag line.  I think it helped tie the two togther a little better. Thanks for the compliments!
