I've been searching high and low online for places that sell those cardboard tubes that rolls of fabric come on. Anyone know where to buy them, or even what they're called?? I"ve tried searching for "cardboard tube" and other variations of that on google and don't come up with what I need. Any ideas? Thanks!
12  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Affordable eco friendly printing? on: May 09, 2009 02:15:34 PM
Hi! Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for inexpensive printing? My sister has some amazing nature drawings that I want to have printed on cards. I would like them printed on recycled paper, but am having a hard time finding anyone online that can print a small run at a *small* price. Has anyone done this??

14  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / can I open an etsy store for someone else?? on: January 13, 2009 10:38:34 AM
Hey crafters!

I have some questions about the logistics of opening an etsy store. Here's what I *want* to do, I'm just not sure of the red tape, and any advice whatsoever would be fantastic!

My sister makes beautiful nature drawings. I've collected quite a few of them and am about to print them to make cards. She's a mom of 2 and overloaded with too much stuff to do and living on an extremely limited income. I just wanted to try to sell some cards for her to get her a bit of extra grocery money, etc.

I don't have a problem using my own credit card to set up an etsy shop, but is it legal for me to do this if I'm not claiming these cards are made by me, or that the store is "mine"? Do I have to actually register a business for her  in order to be able to sell on etsy?
It's just going to be cards, so I'm not talking about a lot of money here, but I just was wondering if anyone has any insight on this.
I also run my own company and have already gone through all that legal stuff for myself, so I'm trying to avoid it this time around.

One more question... I do have a paypal acct. I use for my own business but I want to set up a new one for the etsy shop to keep the income separate. Will I myself have to pay taxes and claim this money as income when I do my taxes? I'm not going to be keeping any of the profit. I will just print the cards, be the contact person, send out orders, and then send my sister checks. So... is this possible? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!!
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Industrial wool felt? on: January 02, 2009 09:36:28 PM
Anyone have any ideas as to where to buy industrial, or 3mm wool felt? I've been searching online like crazy for this stuff and am only coming up with $75/yd. as the best price. I started using the eco-spun felt (made from recycled water bottles) for my bags, but it's just too think. I need the really heavy stuff. plz halp?

I'd like to bump this thread up. I clicked on that link (yes I realize this post is from 2004!!) and the felt pads there are "permanantly out of stock"
The cheapest I have found industrial wool felt online is $75/yd. anyone found something better?

Yes they also are more expensive to ship on our end, and charge a customs fee to the recipient as well.  Embarrassed
