1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: How's Your etsy Shop Doing? on: March 21, 2006 07:42:45 AM
That is really true-we all make a difference when we make good choices like having bags to use over again. I hope you do really well with you bags- What a cool idea to knit bags into other things. I am amazed at how very wasteful our country
is, it makes me so happy to see people who really care.  Did you ladies know that if we all started using recycled paper and toilet paper we would save thousands of trees a week? Yay-we can all make a really big difference!

I really like how your candles turned out, lillyqueen.

Hey Holly, have you checked out American Apparel? They are in L.A. and they make everything from fabric to shirts in one building. They treat their employees very well, they give good health care and even massages! It's nice to support people who are trying to change things for the better. Also I think that the good karma that they are making spreads to their customers also. They have really nice shirts, they are so soft and they even have a small organic cotton line.

Are they working non-stop over there at etsy or what? It seems like every few days there is something new to check out. This coproduction contest sounds fun.
Lillyqueen I love my candles, thanks again.

I definitely get down, I have some shops that I sell to and word of mouth, but online I am not doing so great. I do a lot of festival vending, in the summer, so when it is off season I feel like I am just making stuff to put in my craft room closet.  I've only had one real sale on etsy and I have a lot of views, maybe I need to try something in a lower price range?

It's so great that you ladies are helping charities.  I am going to donate to some of the many groups that help to save the redwoods. Did you girls know that only 5% of the redwoods are left?  They are so beautiful and they only grow in this area.
I've been listing a couple of my dreamcatchers in my shop, I have one that I listed a couple of weeks ago and one that I listed yesterday. I'm going to keep listing different ones- check them out and tell me what you think. I will donate 10% of all dreamcatcher sales to one of these charities.
What do you all think of the chat rooms? Cool, huh? they just keep adding new features.  Smiley

Naked ninja, you are so right about learning lessons. I didn't ever cut my locks, I just had a lot of pieces (some as long as 6 inches) break off, like a natural haircut. I do know people who have cut their ends because they were getting too long.

Thanks, hee hee mine used ot be a lot longer, but I lost the ends off from almost all of them. I had some really long pieces come off. Notice how all my ends are kind of curly instead of dreaded? Kind of like a natural haircut. I have had them for 9 years this year.
