21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I pod cozy thnx to Girl Annual!!!! (lots of pics) on: February 13, 2006 05:30:17 PM
So, I made my first iPod cozy, yay!

It would not have been possible at all without this awesome tutorial http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=47661.0

I have to take a moment to say thanks to Craftster and all you rockin' folks for teaching me how to make cool stuff.

I made a few changes from the original tut. I tried to make a snap but couldn't get it to attach (any hints?) and it kept cracking from all the crazy hammering. So I sewed on velcro and a decorative button. The vinyl covering the screen and click wheel got goofy 'cause I didn't know it would majorly crinkle when I turned the cozy from inside out to rightside out. . . I blew it with a hair dryer and it helped somewhat. Also, I found that sewing the vinyl made it pucker, so maybe next time I'll try glueing it on.

Well, here it is!!

22  UNITED STATES / Maine / Portland Area wedding reception sites? on: January 27, 2006 10:26:48 AM
Okay, so this isn't a craft related question, but Leah the craftster goddess asked this same question in the MA area, so I thought I would follow her lead and ask the same one but in your area.

Does anyone know of a good, different, interesting, beautiful place to get married in the greater Portland area?

I live down in Boston and it's hard to know all the good spots!

Thanks for any ideas you might have!
23  UNITED STATES / Massachusetts / Awesome Exhibition / Artist Performance on: January 27, 2006 10:23:32 AM
I hope this is okay on Craftster, but I thought I would plug a local art event that ya'll might find interesting:

At MassArt:

Shintaro Miyake Presents
BEAVER NO SEIKATSU

Sandra and David Bakalar Gallery @ massachusetts college of art (621 Huntington ave)

February 7 - March 18, 2006

The opening reception is
Tuesday, February 7 from 5 - 7pm
It's free and open to the public (wine and cheese etc.)

During the opening and also on Wed - Thurs Feb 8 - 9 from 10am - 6pm there will be a live artist performance.

Highlights of this show will include Japanese artist Shintaro Miyake as "beaver" doing a performative wall drawing, a beaver pond with recreated artistic interpretation of a dam and lodge, beaver "documentary" film, drawings, photos and natural history museum about real beavers. Think of all this in the realm of Japanese pop-culture meets the american landscape.

24  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A blanket for my niece! on: December 23, 2005 08:40:13 AM
I finished this for my niece Tennessee last august, but just got pictures of it up now. . .

My first lace, and my first blanket!! I started it before I knew if she was going to be a girl or a boy, so I chose off white with strains of blue and gray.

I used the leftover yarn to make a scarf too  Smiley

I used pattons acrylic wool mix. Not super soft, but still warm. . .

oooh it looks like the pictures are huge, I'll try and fix that
25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My First Tote - Fall Theme! on: December 22, 2005 03:37:16 PM
This is the first bag I've ever made, hurray!!! And my first photo post.

I had a lot of fun with the fabric from the remnant pile. The outside is a wide wale cordoury and the inside a fall leafy pattern. The only problem is it came out a little smaller than expected. . . I can't wait to make more!

Thanks to craftster for all the inspiration Cheesy

I have leftover fabric and an orange zipper, so we'll see what comes next. . .

the lining and pocket, which I need to make stronger next time
