1  Flock Together in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by ShowLola on: July 01, 2007 01:30:28 PM

This is a mixed media I've been working on this afternoon.  The tree is decoupaged from several nature manuals and then whitewashed.  The rest is in acrylics.

Thanks for looking!

Thank you!  I feel really proud of these, so its so cool to hear nice things from you all.  I've been on a ceramics tear.  Here are some more pieces:

3  Smiley Kitchen Mugs in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ShowLola on: June 24, 2007 03:47:56 PM
I've been experimenting with Pebeo Porcelaine lately, and I am *loving* it!  I bought a bunch of mugs from Goodwill and I started customizing them today.  Let me know what you think. Smiley

This is sort of image heavy.  Sorry for that.

4  Pet bowl for my cat in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by ShowLola on: June 24, 2007 03:30:39 PM
So I'm experimenting with Pebeo Porcelaine paints, and I took a break from mug painting to work on a food bowl for my cat Obi.  I bought a bowl from the local Goodwill for $1.00 and I repainted his name and the little fishbone.  It didn't take very long, and I love the results.  Hopefully my kitty will like the new bowl too.

5  Re: Office/Desk Swap Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by ShowLola on: September 29, 2006 05:07:49 PM
This was such a fun first swap.  Thank you so much my awesome loot Knitting_Nyxxie!

Here is everything together.  I'm a librarian, so she ran with it.  She made me two colorful notebooks, a decorative book box, etched glass coasters, and a SHH... glass that I love.  She also gave me a really nice stapler, and a huge spinning pencil holder.  I think I'm going to cheat and use that one at home in my craft space.  It will be so perfect for all of my brushes and pens.

Here's a closeup of the glass and coasters.  I'm going to fill this up with candy and leave it on my shelf.  My co-workers were all jealous.

This book opens up and has a neato secret box inside.  She painted it green (my favorite color) with sparkles.  So cute.

Thanks for being an awesome swap partner!  I love my stuff.

6  Teeny Bubble Elephant DS Lite Case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ShowLola on: September 05, 2006 02:43:46 PM
Okay, so I finally got my Nintendo DS Lite.  After months of full scale drooling, I managed to scrape together enough cash to get the best handheld system ever.  And it is worth the hype, kids.

So, to go with my shiny new machine, I needed a shiny new case.  My sewing is still pretty green, so please ignore the messy stitching and all. I followed the mini-Jordy bag with flap directions with a little improvising.  The whole thing is done with two sheets of craft felt from JoAnn's (at $0.20 each!), and the design is just cute and hand sewn with the leftover felt.  This project was so fun, and totally gratifying.

First, the case opened to display the teeny bubble elephant on the back (and flap):

7  Batman Storage Cube in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ShowLola on: February 27, 2006 09:34:27 PM
Generally, i just lurk on Craftster and let the genius of the collective wash over me.  But I liked how this turned out so I wanted to share.

I used modge podge to affix these 60's era Batman comics to a supremely ugly snagged storage cube.

8  Re: Love your wedding? Then show off your photos here! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by ShowLola on: January 04, 2006 09:00:30 PM
I know I'm super late, but I thought this was a good way to practice my picture posting.  Our wedding was much more traditional than I ever thought it would be, but we had a great time.  Highlight: We got married at a B&B that used to be owned by the Iron Sheik of 80's WWF fame.  We did lots of DIY, so let me know if you have questions...
