I have no idea if this is the official name, but I've never heard them called anything other than "peeper keepers."

24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Mini Irons on: March 09, 2006 11:09:57 PM
haha, okay. i was going to say that holding it must be a challenge.

that's a perfect size. i'm going to keep searching for more technical information on it. if i can't find anything, i'll just make sure i buy it from a store that accepts returns. =P

thank you so much for the info!
25  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Mini Irons on: March 09, 2006 10:47:59 PM
i have the Heidi Swapp iron and it's really good, but i'm pretty sure it's smaller than the Clover.

it's really small, but it gets nice and hot.   Smiley

are we talking about the same clover mini iron? this one:

i saw it in the rag shop and the part that gets hot is only like 1" or 2", unless i'm out of my mind and not remembering properly. it doesn't seem possible to me that an iron in the style of the heidi swapp one could be that tiny. if it is, and you still say it works so well, maybe i'll try that one out. i don't like the clover one mostly because of how you have to hold it and because, apparently, the handle and stand get very hot. i can't find any detailed information on it anywhere, so i'm going to hope that you'd be willing to answer a couple of questions for me. how big is it (about)? how long does it take to heat up? is it a pre-set temperature, or are there different temp. settings? thank youuu =)

Struggling to drag the ironing board and iron upstairs to my room is way too much of a hassle to keep doing. I discovered minature irons but know nothing about them. Do they actually work? I would be using it mainly to press seams, fuse interfacing, and transfer images via iron-on paper or sulky pen. I found 3, so I'll post their pictures/names/prices. Any information you can give me on them and/or other mini irons would be fabulous.

1. Mini Travel Iron - $6.99

2. Mini Crafting Iron - $9.99

3. Heidi Swapp Pink Mini Iron - $12.99

I like the Heidi Swapp one the best, for no reason other than it's pink and adorable. Haha. Oh, and I already know about the Clover mini iron. It's too small. It would take me forever and a day to press a long seam with that thing.

Thanks!
27  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pet Recipes - What To Avoid on: February 28, 2006 04:00:21 PM
My vet told me that cats should be on a meat-only diet. Dogs should also eat mainly or only meat. However, it's not as vital for dogs to eat only meat than cats. My pug is overweight and her diet consists of replacing 1/3 of her food with green beans.

I read an article about the problems with Greenies on CNN. The injuries and fatalities of dogs are caused by the dog ingesting the Greenie prior to chewing it, therefore creating a blockage in the digestive system.

There are several different sizes of Greenies for that reason, so make sure that you buy your dog the proper size. As with any animal treat or toy, supervise your pet at first to make sure he/she doesn't try to swallow it whole.

I just wanted to give more info and clarify that the issues with Greenies have not been caused by the ingredients, so it's still okay to give your dog as long as you supervise him or her (at least until they figure out why the Greenies aren't being digested).

30  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: anyone use mal's e-commerce? I have a question :( on: February 19, 2006 05:06:35 PM
Mals doesn't keep track of inventory, sadly. Think of it as a cash register.

For that reason, looking into osCommerce and Zen Cart are on my to-do list.
