1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Historic Waistcoat on: June 29, 2010 12:51:49 PM
In a week or so I will be playing a pirate at a festival and the costume needs to be historically correct. What I am looking for is a straight forward/easy to read bodice waistcoat/ladies vest pattern, in a similar style to these

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Horseshoe Nail Cross Of Lorraine on: January 27, 2010 04:33:11 PM
I am wanting to make a cross of Lorraine out of horseshoe nails. I am not quite sure if I like the look of it being wire wrapped {am looking for minimal look on it} right now I am using E6000 and wire wrapping, but am thinking that it might look better being soldered. My question is since this will be a necklace/charm will solder hold up on steel {I understand it is not a good idea to use lead solder}? Is there another way to fuse the nails or ideas on how to assemble them?  Huh
3  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Absinthe Soap on: July 16, 2009 12:23:22 PM
I know that soaps can be made with beer and maybe other alcohols {I have made several batches of soap before, cold process} I was wondering if there is anyway it would be possible to make a soap using the Absinthe drink {instead of the oil}. I haven't ever seen anything posted about it/recipes. I was wondering what would need to be done differently or how to go about doing it/how much to use, since I have never made an alcoholic soap before. Or if anyone has a recipe. Thanks
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Madlad Hat (Punk Knits) on: December 15, 2008 08:48:00 PM
Hi, I am working on the madlad hat from Punk Knits, I have had to alter the pattern so that instead of 21 inches around it would be 26 inches around. I am about to start working on the crown now, but am not sure if the pattern needs to be altered for that part or not.

The Crown Pattern-

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Monster Fur Question on: December 08, 2007 03:06:28 PM
Currently I use a Kenmore 8 (zigzag) but it always seems to choke on monster fur is there something I can do to prevent this, or do I need a different machine?
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Headband Question on: November 30, 2007 12:54:34 PM
Usually when I make headband I leave a small hole while its inside out to turn it right side out. But how do you hide where you have to sew that hole together without showing the stitchs (even with the same color thread)? Huh Sad

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Showcases--- is it worth it? on: November 27, 2007 04:02:23 PM
Who here has used the showcase on etsy? Was it worth the cost? About how many sales did you get from it? I am asking because I am trying to decide if I should get a showcase spot or not?
