1  Queen sized Log Cabin Quilt Finished! in Quilting: Completed Projects by Tangerine_Dreams on: August 31, 2009 09:42:49 AM
I finally finished this quilt!!

Stats:

Log Cabin Quilt (I used the pattern from "Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts")
Fabrics:  Joel Dewberry--Almond Sparrows(front) & Orange Damask (backing) from the Aviary Line; Kona Cotton Solid (I don't remember exact color)
Batting: Warm & Natural
Machine Quilted (PITA) in spiral type squares around each block

Now, I'm making matching pillow cases of the Orange Damask print.  After this project is over, I'll be finishing up the Hexagon Quilt made of Erin McMorris "Wildwood" fabrics! YUM!!

Sorry the picture is bad, but I just snapped a quick shot.

It looks extra wrinkly because I left it sitting in the dryer too long! lol

3  Thread color opinions wanted! in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Tangerine_Dreams on: May 01, 2009 04:12:09 PM
I'll be starting the quilting on my baby Mermaid quilt this weekend, and can't decide what color thread to quilt with.  I'm thinking white for the top, and pink that matches the solid on the backing?  Or should I go with white/white or pink/pink?

4  Re: what stitch is this? in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by Tangerine_Dreams on: March 01, 2009 06:12:34 PM
It almost looks like basic V stitches, but could also be something like this stitch:

This snowflake stitch comes from the Vanna White Binder Collection ( do happen to have the pattern, but haven't had a chance to look at how it's done).   This Link at Crochetville may be helpful though: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16820  There's a post about a "star stitch" with directions.

I hope that helps.

5  Anyone know what this technique is called? in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Tangerine_Dreams on: January 28, 2009 11:29:07 AM
It looks to me it was just scraps of different colored fabrics put together to create a "new" fabric, then cut into the shape they wanted.

Does anyone know what this is called?

6  Finished Mermaid Quilt Top in Quilting: Completed Projects by Tangerine_Dreams on: January 06, 2009 07:03:51 PM
I'm waiting on a sale to buy my batting (warm & natural).

I used 12 different fabrics from the Heather Ross Mendocino collection and Snow Kona Cotton.

7  Design and Color Help in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Tangerine_Dreams on: December 13, 2008 05:57:29 PM
I'm trying to figure out what to make for future baby and am trying to use up fabric that I have in my stash and patterns.

I was thinking about making this "Snake Charmer" quilt:

But using the Color Wheel fabrics from this quilt I made previously:

Other changes I wanted to make was to switch some of the curves around and make it one continuous "snake" instead of 3 separate ones.

Does this sound like a good idea?  I'm so indecisive lately I can't decide whether the colors will flow smoothly or not!

Any thoughts?

9  Re: Would this bother you? in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by Tangerine_Dreams on: February 27, 2008 10:34:14 AM
Thanks everyone.  it's the backing that has the crease anyway.  Wink

I've decided to go ahead and finish it, binding and all, wash it and see how I feel about it.  Worst case, I have to make another one!  Which wouldn't bother me because it was such a FUN one to make!  I swear I need some of that fabric on a bolt.

I've also finished mine but I forgot to take a picture of it before the buttons went on and I've already given it to it's recipient!!!  The sleeves and bottom edging were picot stitch.  It looked really cute once it was blocked.

here it is BEFORE the buttons:
