5571  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Mod Podge? on: August 15, 2006 06:01:20 PM
Here's what we've done with Mod Podge:

take a clear glass plate, flip it upside down and cover with a layer of Mod Podge.  Lay fabric over the upside down plate and smooth over all edges.  Layer Mod Podge on top of fabric.  Let dry and then trim fabric to just inside the edge of the plate.  Put a couple more layers on the fabric and let dry.

When dry the fabric is sealed well enough to wash.  We made them to give away with cookies and candies at the holidays.  You could make them for any holiday.  We just used plain cotton.  Once I get a pic, I'll add it so you can see.  My friend has used hers for a year and had nothing but good to say about it!

I received from teddybearbones yesterday!  I am in awe!  Now, she was worried that her items were too small, but they are wonderful.  We all know, "size doesn't matter", right? Wink

The songs I chose as favorites were:
Coin-Operated Boy by Dresden Dolls
The Perfect Drug by NIN
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley
Bohemian Like Me by Dandy Warhols AND
Trouble with Dreams by The Eels

teddybearbones crafted for Coin-Operated Boy and Perfect Drug.

Coin-Operated Boy:  the necklace is morse-coded to read "This bridge was written to make you" on the inner strand and "feel smittener" on either side of the coin.  Amazing, isn't it?!!!!  Two pics of the necklace cuz I'm not sure how they'll turn out:

And earrings to match!

The for the song "Perfect Drug", she made a cuff.  The pics are of a styrofoam head and then she sewed adorable polka-dot ribbon to it (from a swap with ChloeisCrazy) and ironed it to give it a weird texture.  The part of the song for this craft was "I've got my head but my head is unravelling/I can't keep control can't keep track of where it's traveling".  Awesome!

Oh yeah, I also got a bar of Caramilk which is already gone. Cheesy  So no pic of that.  Rae said that she added that as "Chocolate IS the perfect drug."LOL

Thanks so much, Rae!  I feel spoiled and cute today in my new necklace.  It makes me smile to know what it says.

Oh, this would be fun!  I had a favorite series, it followed a girl from elementary school through marriage.  I read it from elementary school through high school!  What nice memories!

I'd love to be in this one.  If you can't find an organiser and I'm free, I'd be willing.

Okay, I made my crafting list tonight.  That means I'm mentally prepared!  Right.  I so love deadlines - or nothing would get done.LOL

I've enlisted my hubby in making one of teddybearbones crafts.  He said, "How cool!" and he gets to use tools, so he's pretty happy.  I may even sneak a second one in for him to help with.  He's never interested in crafting, so this could be fun! Grin

Great ideas, bagfairy!  That's the kind of stuff we were thinking of!

nope, you'll be fine diannahb.  I won't do official partners until the very end anyhow, just general ideas.  We'll limit to 25 people as we are suposed to with only one organiser.  That should be fine.

That girl is just too darned quick for her own good! Grin

I'm gathering my thoughts and making my plans, but nothing is done or even started yet.  I have very definite ideas on what I'm going to do though, does that count? Smiley

sorry!  I was in a little bit of a rush when I wrote that!  So y'all want to start signups...say...August 28th and end them...September 8th.  Then give 3 weeks for crafting with a mailout date of...September 29th.  Does that sound right?

We need to make sure what we want before I start the signups! Wink

It's always so nice to be loved! Grin

September would be great for signups.  Then I could really focus on this one.  Do you want the second week of September?  Starting September 11th for signups?

If you guys are still looking for an organiser, I'd be happy to volunteer, if you'd have me.  I love, love, love to organise other people! Grin

Just say the word and I'll start.  I, myself, have 2 children.  A girl 11yo and a boy 5yo.
