1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Cannot find fusible fleece!! on: June 03, 2007 09:07:47 AM
I make and sell handbags and use lots of fusible fleece, in particular HTC9720 fusible fleece.  I noticed recently when I bought some at Joann and Walmart that the quality for this fleece has changed considerably.  It is noticably thinner and there is hardly any glue on it to fuse to the fabric.  Has anyone noticed this problem?  Also, if you know anywhere to buy this fleece, I would greatly appreciate it.  Do you know any good substitutes?  Help!

Thanks for the tip.  I think maybe having a friend to upload and list on etsy for me will be a lot of help.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I'm feeling overwhelmed! When to hire extra help on: May 24, 2007 10:44:16 AM
First of all I'm not complaining, I need some advice, especially from handbag designers.  I sell handbags on etsy.  I know I would sell more if I had more purses listed.  It just that it takes time to sew the bags and time to upload items to site.  Also, I'm extremely busy in my hometown.  My business has exploded overnight.  I am receiving calls everyday from at least 1-2 people wanting to book my design a purse parties.  Right now, I can only handle 1 a week and kind of keep up with orders.  I give everyone 3-4 weeks to received their order.  I'm feeling like I'm at a point where I need to get some extra help with sewing, etc to keep up with my business and my family.  I have so many ideas floating in my head and not enough time to implement them.  So what do you think.  Any advice from anyone that has been in this situation with their biz.   Should I hire the extra help and do you think it will be profitable to do so?

Thanks for the tips.  I guess I would run it similar to my home parties I have at peoples houses, except it would be at my house.  Using fliers and someone suggested using evite to invite people.

Anyway thanks again.  Wish me luck!

I want to host a Spring Fling in my home showcasing my handmade purses and accessories.  I would also like to invite a few other designers to show their items also.  Any tips from marketing, organizing, setup.

Thanks

I used old shutter doors.  They were a little heavy, but I had someone help me haul them in and then I was able to hinge them myself.  I have the holes predrilled on the sides and hinges already attached on one door, so its ready to attach the other hinge once I get there.

Here are some pics of my booth display at my first craft fair.  It was a lot of fun!

Thank you for the ideas.  Keep them coming!  I think I am going to make some vintage like paper cones in a Halloween or Thanksgiving theme.  Put some halloween and thanksgiving picks inside.  Use a little glitter glue to edge the seam of the cone and put a curly wire at the top as a hanger.   I will also do the marble magnets and the snowman ornament idea is great.  I make purses but won't have a booth at this show because I'm so busy, but I will put out some checkbook covers and key rings.  The theme napkins are an awesome idea.    Thanks
