1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Jewel-toned Freeform Necklace on: June 02, 2012 06:16:41 PM
Hello, I love doing freeform beading, and this latest one was custom made for someone.

I am currently making a bracelet to match.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Pendant on: November 25, 2011 02:06:50 PM
Here is a freeform pendant I made for myself to wear this winter.  I still have to create the neck strap, but thought I would show you the focal point pendant:

By the way, the technique is "freeform," meaning you are not following any pattern.  I like to just start somewhere, then keep adding until it feel right- or feels done.  I also create freeform using yarn, here is an example of a scarf chosen as a Featured Project. (Just scroll down until you see a salmon/green scarf)
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Freeform Beaded Necklace on: November 11, 2011 09:44:59 AM
Hello, I thought I would share my freeform beaded necklace.  My inspiration was a challenge to make a wedding jewelry piece.  I love to work freeform style, and concentrate on creating texture and interest within the piece.  Any other freeform beaders here?

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Bedside Pocket Organizer on: December 29, 2010 02:47:02 PM
Today, I had an extra hour, so I made myself a bedside pocket organizer for the side of my bed.  I used fabric on hand, some nice thick flannel.  Here is a picture:

I did write a tutorial for this, I placed it on my blog for those interested.  It is very easy to make- even for beginners.  Here is a picture of the organizer before I placed it between my mattress and boxsprings:

I love making functional items!  Happy New Year, Carla
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Wavy Peyote Bracelet on: December 26, 2010 07:36:40 PM
Here is another easy bracelet to share- this only requires the peyote stitch using a variety of sized beads to create the wavy shape.  I decided to make my bracelet monochromatic with an antique button closure:
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Selvage Quilts on: February 02, 2010 11:36:08 AM
Here is proof that I do not throw anything away!!

I finally finished quilting my black selvage quilt and decided to make a red zinger one. The red zinger looks like this:

Here is the quilted one next:
and a close-up of the border:

By the way, I found a tutorial for making the red - or any other color- zinger on this site on Karen Griska's blog http://selvageblog.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-to-make-red-zinger.html
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Fiber/Beaded Necklace on: December 30, 2009 07:26:42 PM
I combined fabric, yarn, and beads to make this necklace.  I wore it the other day and received lots of complements.  It was very easy to make as well.

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Sock Monkey Quilt on: May 06, 2009 08:01:21 AM
I stood over my sister (who doesn't quilt) while she sewed this together.  I just quilted it recently and  I know she is giving it away to friend who had a baby.

For all the machine quilters out there, I use quilter's dream select batting, Superior So-Fine Thread, and the spirals looks nice and even thanks to my pattern board.  Freehand fill in between.  All in all, a happy quilt!  Take care, Carla
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Wedding Ring using Batiks on: April 23, 2009 07:18:05 AM
I finished this quilt just the other day.  My friend who pieced it together is in her late 80's!  She is young at heart and I hope when I am her age I can still put quilt tops together.  The pattern is called "Double Wedding Ring:"

Finished laying on my dining table:

and the back of the quilt:

Thanks for looking!  Carla
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Egyptian Quilt on: April 17, 2009 12:23:08 PM
Hello, I have another quilt to share with you all- this one was a joint project between my friend, who pieced and designed this quilt, and myself as the quilter.  It features Egyptian fabric and quilting motifs.

Here is the center of the quilt before the quilting:

and pictures showing the quilting:

Here's part of the border where I quilted in Egyptian motifs and stylized feathers:

Quilters always love to show the back of the quilt, so here goes:

That's it!  I hope you have enjoyed seeing this quilt.  Thanks for looking!
