I made my first sock monkey!! from a tutorial found here: http://www.web-goddess.org/writing/tutorial/Image0.html this tute was WILDLY helpful, she didn't make it look too easy or too hard.

I made this monkey for one of our jeerleaders, Ruby Casino. I play roller derby in St. Louis and we'd be lost w/o our support staff! It's even constructed from gen-u-wine roller derby history, I wore these knee-high socks my first season.

I've got so many socks that are out-of-comission I could make an army of sock monkeys, and I just might. The outfit was ten times harder to make than the monkey, I'll stick to people clothes from now on thanks.

Alright, I made this stuff a month or 2 ago & FINALLY have some time to post it (even though our internet is still pretty messed up).
Ta DAAAAA!!! I made the molds for these fox pendants all my myself! they are 100% one of a kind, designed & executed all by yours truly. I'd give a tute if you like but the whole process was so infuriating I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

so here's my question:

what would be cooler?

1. record bowls how they are, they look clear but actually aren't

2. the hole in the middle has a great, cheesy picture of the band, like this:



obviously a better quality image than that, but I've got Jefferson Starship "We Built This City" & I love Grace Slick's big hair in the video, so I would sink something like that in the resin.

so... what do you guys think?

So you know what sucks about record bowls? the hole in the middle!
especially when you've got alot of super-cool 45s your sister played to death in high school. They're no longer playable, but still embody memories from your childhood...

my solution: seal the bottom of the record w/resin, now it still looks like a record but functions perfectly as a bowl! (or coaster! I made those too)

et voila! see? 45 records that hold tiny beads!

I'm so glad I finally figured it out! I've literally had these bowls sitting in storage for years waiting for the solution & here they are   let me know what you think.
I think I might start painting the bowls or adding pictures in the record hole or sometin.

so I've literally had these votive holders for at least 5 years, I've had about a million ideas & I finally decided to try my hand at hand-etching. It was SO fun, really labor-intensive but definitely worth it.

they're supposed to be votive holders but they're really big, more like a rocks glass, they would definitely make for a fun party & interesting bartending

the piece was a one-in-a-million find & I wanted to give it as a gift, but that didn't pan out & it's been sitting around in my house, I finally decided to give it new life. It is easily one of the coolest things I've ever found & i'd like to think I make it just a hair cooler by adding my snake girl.
