1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Painted tins for my bathroom on: December 08, 2005 10:04:37 AM
Thanks alot. I didn't use a stencil but i did take the image from online...i just drew from the picture.  It's all done in acrylics and it's possible that it will scratch off but i think i'm going to try to put some kind of a sealer on it to prevent it...not sure what to use yet...i'll prolly just ask my mom what to use.

So I saw this really cool idea for some tins while i was browsing the Ikea website.  Here's the pic....

But i didn't like the colors but the idea of painting on tins was pretty cool, and I have lots of them around.  So i'm moving to a new apartment next week to start my internship and my new bathroom has no hidden storage.  It's just a pedestil (sp?) sink and open shelves so i though why not hide a bunch of junk in these tins.  So i painted them a couple of cute colors and think i might put my buddha painting in the bathroom too, so i think i'm going for some religion theme.  I put the elephant on one and might put a buddha on the other or something...i'm not sure..any ideas would be great.  Not to mention i tried to do something cool on the side of the tin and it didn't work out, i don't like it so if anyone has an idea let me know...I'm excited to see what everyone thinks.

Tins right after i painted them the base color...

Top of tin...

Side of tin, that i hate...

*i'm still really new to this, if you can't see the pictures please please please let me know and i'll try to fix it

This is the dress I made back in my Junior year of High School for my Junior prom.  Four years later I still LOVE it.  I even wore it again at another schools prom my senior year.  Part of me wants to sell it to make some money but i don't think i could give it up.

This is one of my most favorite pieces I've ever done.  It was an assignment for one of my painting classes.  We had to take pictures of ourselves and friends, blow them up, and then collage them together.  Then we painted it.  It was sooo much fun.  I advise everyone to try this one.  Make sure you post the pics if you do.  I would love to see what everyone elses turned out like.

Good luck

I've had a few painting classes in college so if you need any ideas for something to paint i could probably come up with something.  We did a few cool things in my class.  I love color too.  If i paint something it always has bright bold colors in it.  Let me know if you need any ideas.  As for DIY sites on painting, i don't know of any.  Happy Painting!

I've been out of high school for 4 or 5 years but my Junior year I made my prom dress.  It was pretty easy it had spagetti straps, since i am vuluptuos as well and was just very simple.  Kind of a cinderella dress, it got poofy as it went down.  If i can find a picture of it i'll put it up.  It had a teal underlay and then a very sheer green/teal/blue tyedye (not in circles or anything) overlay.  I've been sewing for a long long time so if you have any questions about doing something let me know.  I hope i can find a picture.  Good luck to everyone making one.  I hope you can find a pattern for the kind of dress your looking for.  I usually get stuck making my own.
