1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Stuffed animal into backpack on: August 28, 2007 01:49:21 PM
Purchased this grumpy cat at the thrift store, put a pocket in his back, added straps - viola! - backpack for my 8th grader.

He's still got some beans for weight and he can't really hold all that much but we're both happy with the results.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Daddy award for co-worker on: December 31, 2006 02:42:03 PM
We'll be having a baby shower for a co-worker and since he's into wheeled sports like biking and go-carts, I figured I'd finally found a use for these moto-cross bike awards I got in the free box at a garage sale this summer.

So here's the parts:

And here's the finished product:

And now I'm off to find a small baby doll to perch on the backs of the bikers. Hope I have the nerve to actually give this to him!
3  Washington / Washington: West / Eastside Collage Group on: December 05, 2005 10:53:17 AM
We're just starting up - the second meeting was cancelled due to snow last week. But the intent is to meet every 2 weeks - usually in a room at the Bellevue library.

The details are here on craigslist: http://seattle.craigslist.org/act/114863123.html

I'll post again when we've got the next date, time and location figured out - but I wanted to let you all know we're here, cutting and pasting!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Skirt from a men's shirt on: June 30, 2005 11:38:45 AM
This project just came to me when I picked up this thrift store men's shirt. Unfortunately, all I have for a model is my 10-year-old... I think it would be cute with a full tulle skip peeking out of the unbuttoned front.
Anyway - here it is...

The cuffs...

And even the collar...

And again - in the all-together!

I think I'm going to resew the pocket on the backside of the skirt.

What do you guys think? I'm a bit old to wear this - and my daughter's a bit young.
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / distinctivefabric.com monsters on: June 24, 2005 08:40:11 PM
Thanks, flyinpurplemunkiez for the distinctivefabric.com link and ideas!

Here's the first of my projects, isn't she sweet? She is a post-it notebook monster of my design. I just love her! Cool

I'm working on more of them, will post soon!

I'd love to see yours, too...

Posted for 10-year-old daughter, Kailin. Gonna have to get her own account soon. Kiss

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Awesome pants - bleach pen project for Memorial Day Weekend on: May 30, 2005 05:59:09 PM
My mom told me about this craft and I thought it was awesome. There is a dragon on the right leg and an abstract design on the left leg.

My mom rocks!  Shocked

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Another Altoids tin project - job finding pocket shrine on: December 03, 2004 10:56:38 AM
Mine is a job-finding pocket-shrine. Haven't had to use it yet - but one must always be prepared... My next project was going to be a travel pocket-shrine but am thinking an altoid tin of love would make a great present... Thanks, snowwhitesuicide!

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Altered suitcase for my travelin' sister on: December 02, 2004 04:07:48 PM
I'm sooo excited about giving this to my sister for christmas. I'm hoping to see it used for carrying around her craft supplies - especially her knitting...

I'd love to do more - but am having a hard time finding suitcases that are still nice inside... This one was perfect on the inside - and not a bit stuffy smelling.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / A Work Finding Shrine on: March 11, 2004 02:45:29 PM
I have an unemployed friend with a birthday coming up and I'd like to make her a work finding shrine. So far I've decopauged want ads to the outside. And I have some small birthday candles to put inside. But now I'm stuck... I need some ideas for small objects - fake coins, a dummy credit card? She's a teacher so obviously money isn't her biggest goal at her job - but how do I represent this? I found a couple of feng shui elements to add - gold fish represents wealth and you use amethyst to ensure harmony with coworkers.

Ideas, anybody?

PS. The company I work at is being sold - I'll probably be making my own work finding shrine soon. I need some powerful icons!
