1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Stuffed animal into backpack on: August 28, 2007 01:49:21 PM
Purchased this grumpy cat at the thrift store, put a pocket in his back, added straps - viola! - backpack for my 8th grader.

He's still got some beans for weight and he can't really hold all that much but we're both happy with the results.

If you decopauge with tissue paper, consider using old pattern pieces. It's got that vintage color - and it's related to the object!

Oh, wait. Scratch that if you're looking for a pretty flowery look...

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Baby Daddy award for co-worker on: January 03, 2007 09:26:29 AM
I was thinking of it as a table decoration. Like a diaper cake - or maybe I'll use it to hold down the helium baloon bouquet. Something along those lines - not for the baby specifically...
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Baby Daddy award for co-worker on: December 31, 2006 02:42:03 PM
We'll be having a baby shower for a co-worker and since he's into wheeled sports like biking and go-carts, I figured I'd finally found a use for these moto-cross bike awards I got in the free box at a garage sale this summer.

So here's the parts:

And here's the finished product:

And now I'm off to find a small baby doll to perch on the backs of the bikers. Hope I have the nerve to actually give this to him!

That is one SERIOUS kitchen. She'll have high expectations for her first apartment!

I'm pretty sure the mushrooms are an integral part of this story.

You did an amazing job!

Is that the sewing machine you used?!? Cause that is the coolest thing ever.
I think there's way too much emphasis on high end (or low end, high tech) sewing machines. I use a machine like that - except it's 'portable' - it doesn't even reverse!
I'd love to learn how to take those old machines and make them work again.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: Band Banquet Chocolate Trophy - suggestions on: January 20, 2006 03:11:19 PM
I pick up awards statues at second hand stores - can generally get the smaller ones for a coupla bucks. They're generally for soccer or baseball - i've even got a guy with a briefcase on a HUGE chunk of marble.
Anyway - then you fashion a fake candy bar from a wrapper, hook it on somehow and present it as a candy sales award.
Not edible however...

I took a great big fancy trophy - columns, marble, the works - and put a large silk cabbage on the top. Gave it to a friend for 'Best Patio Garden'.
