3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Peekaboo Thumb..help? on: March 17, 2008 03:57:26 PM
LOOK AT THE SMILEYS...oh how cute  Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Smiley ok enough of that...

I was wondering if someone could explain these directions to me please...

Transfer 9 (11) gusset sts to needles. Rejoin yarn at gap between hand and thumb gusset, pick up and knit 4 sts in base of 4 cast-on sts. Distribute 13 (15) sts evenly on needles and join for working in the round

and one more for the road... Kiss
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Owl Cable and C4B and C4F on: February 02, 2008 01:20:08 PM
Hi all! So I looked around and didn't find any answers to my question and thought maybe someone could me out...

I am currently working on the http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/clothowl.htm pattern. It is my first time increasing, YO, decrease, AND cables. I am however at the cable part now and really stuck.

How exactly do you C4B and C4F. What exactly would I do to follow these instructions...

Row 34: K2, Yo, K8, P3, C4B, C4F, P3, K across

is says:
C4B (Cable Four Back): Work on 4 sts. Place the first 2 sts on cable needle, hold in back of work, K2, then K2 from the cable needle.
C4F (Cable Four Front): Work on 4 sts. Place the first 2 sts on cable needle, hold in front of work, K2, then K2 from the cable needle.

I guess I just don't understand how exactly this works. What does "work on 4 stitches" mean?
Do I knit 4 stitches and then place them on the cable needle, or slide them from the needly their on onto the cable needle?? I'm lost.

Thank you, sorry it's long!!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Entrelac/Knitty's Danica on: September 24, 2007 04:16:24 PM
I am having trouble understanding exactly how to do this. I have the FIRST base triangle completed, but do not understand how to "ignore it" and move onto the second (middle) and last base triangle. How do you remove the stitches from the needle? Am I doing this wrong by attempting it on straights? I'm confused, someone help me please!!

I am using this site for instructions : http://wolfandturtle.net/Yarnpath/index.php/Yarnpath/comments/all_aboard_the_entrelac_express/
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / One ball of Noro on: September 24, 2007 03:19:43 PM
So I finally went to a LYS in my area, but due to being a college student, I only purchased one ball of Noro. The yarn it as home, so I can't tell you what color. But what can you do with one ball of Noro that will show off it's gorgeous colors??!! I'm at a loss but really love this yarn and do not have enough money to get another ball of it!
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Help with the shortn' sweet! on: July 27, 2006 02:23:32 PM
so I am using Caron simply soft in a navy blue and I am making this for my Senior Pictures (how exciting!!) b/c Mom said I had to MAKEsomething and wear it if I wanted anything crochet in my pictures. Thing is, I want to make this longer, so should I just keep on adding rows to the bottom to achieve this?! And will it turn out in Simply Soft, or should I frog it an buy cotton?! (I really am not fond of working with cotton)
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / trouble with a purse! (pic. heavy!) on: April 23, 2006 07:08:31 PM
so I'm attempting to make the purse from Family Circle Easy Crochet. The purse is the Summer Shopper Tote.

I have the base done but now it says (for the sides) to

mark out the center...done

then, working across one side of the bottom ch3, 51 sc evenly along on side of bottom. Ch 3, turn. Work even in 51 dc for 7 rows more. (to rewind it said to fasten off after making the bottom and sides.)

This is what my side looks like from the turning chains

how is the worl do I crochet in this mess? I have no idea where to start. So I tried making a flat piece but somehow it ended up like this (only 5 rows through)

Thanks in advance for any help!!
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / finished hat turned out wonky(now w/pic) on: March 05, 2006 07:47:43 PM
So I made a hat and the top turned out really wonky, which bummed me out. Thank you to Homerof2, who helped me get started. So my hat ended up with a huge point at the top! I would post a picture but the computer won't connect to the camera...so that's to come.

I used the pattern http://www.royalyarns.com/fp/TLC-Ccht/TLC-LW1379.pdf

I started getting confused on
Next Row: ch 3, skip first sc, [dc in next st, ch 1, skip next st, dc in nect st] 12 times: [yo and draw up a tp in next st, yo and drawn through 2 lps] twice yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook-dctog made--Don't under stand exactly what to do here, even though it explains it. Mind you I'm a self taught crocheter and have noone to help or show me so I often have a ton of questions.

Next Row: ch 1 [sc2tog] 9 times, sc in last st; turn
Next Row: Ch1, [sc2tog], 5 times-5 sts, fasten off
^--what does it mean by 5 sts(stitches)? I don't where to put those 5 sts or what?

So somehow I think I got lost in the pattern and decided to wing it and ended up with a big nipple ont he top of my hat! I'll post pictures a.s.a.p.

Thanks for the help!

my head is tilted so it looks like it's not on all the way, but it is!
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Stuck on a pattern HELP!? on: March 04, 2006 05:25:40 PM
so I'm making the cap from http://www.royalyarns.com/fp/TLC-Ccht/TLC-LW1379.pdf   and am having trouble with the part that says...

"Shape crown-Next Row (NOTE:Count each sp as a st)   I am not really understanding how to do that since I am a beginner and yes I know it seems easy

Ch 1, sc in first 2 dc: [ draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook] my question is, if it's a single crochet how are there three loops on the hook??-
sc2tog made ; sc in next 2 sts] 18 times, sctog, sc in top of ch-3; turn-58 sts

^-- I don't even understand how to do that whole line. So help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for the help I REALLY want to finish this hat tonight and I'm really stuck on those parts and continue until I do them!!  Wink
