okay i hope this counts.
i can never get it together to post on an actual friday.. but it's close enough...?

i am trying to learn the patience to spin multi fibre novelty yarns- this one has a bit of everything- natural brown shetland, curly mohair locks, coswold locks, handdyed corriedale..

5  thin yarn. lace weight? sport weight? in Spinning: Completed Projects by laura_borealis on: March 22, 2006 01:02:50 PM
this is the thinnest yarn i have spun so far. it is spun from corriedale that i dyed before spinning. i like the tweed-like effect that it took on after plying.

i am still trying to wrap my head around the best way to figure out weight. what do you all do? this one is about a 15 wpi, which supposedly makes it a sport weight, but it looks like it would make nice lace.

7  hemp blend in Spinning: Completed Projects by laura_borealis on: February 14, 2006 07:45:34 PM
hey there
i'm a long time lurker who has finally decided to post some of my backlogged images of handspun yarn! hopefully i will make a habit of it.

here is some hemp and romney that i spun back in the fall. it was one of the first yarns that i made on my then new wheel..i really liked the texture of the hemp blend. it was dyed after spinning and i love the way the skeins look, as the hemp doesn't take the dye, but the wool does so it got kind of a silvery sheen to it. the colours are a bit darker in real life...
i gave this yarn to my daughter's waldorf school for a silent auction..
