1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Minky kitties on: July 07, 2007 09:10:25 AM
My son Daniel asked me to make cat stuffies for him and his yet-unborn sibling.  I finally finished them.  I used the Wee Wonderfuls (Hillary Lang) pointy kitty pattern as a starting point, but mine is not-so-pointy.

The baby loves to hear his kitty meow and to chew on his tail.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Jewelry making with kids? on: September 11, 2006 08:17:07 AM
I am looking for websites, books, etc that would be helpful for making jewelry with my son.  This would be a new craft for me (and for him).

He is 8 and loves sparkly stuff.  Cheesy But he won't want to use anything overtly girly, and the only books I've seen are geared towards tween and teen girls.

I'm not sure exactly what he has in mind to make--gifts for his female relatives and things to wear around the house are my guess.

Is there anything in the "Jewelry Making for Dummies" genre that might be useful to us?

Thanking you in advance!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Dropped Stitch Shawl w/ Twist! on: January 02, 2006 12:55:09 PM
I am a fairly new knitter.  I am dying to make this shawl in some yummy yarn.

http://www.knitpicks.com/Projects/Projects_Display_Yarn.aspx?itemid=50354220&yarnid=5420120#

But I am in fear and trembling of the raveled stitches loop "magic" that forms the fringe.  The idea of deliberately unraveling my knitting seems completely insane.  Has anyone done this project or something similar?  Will it all become clear to me as I do it?  Your comments welcome.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Suggestions for ruined silk tee? on: November 06, 2005 08:38:15 PM
*Sob* I committed a serious laundry error, and ended up with a neutral-colored silk jersey tee irreparably splotched with teal dye.

I really like the fit and fabric of the shirt.  Does anyone have ideas on how to overdye or hand-embellish it to save it?

I am not an artist, but I was thinking along the lines of adding abstract flowers with dye or fabric paint.

Any suggestions appreciated! Embarrassed
