11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / fabric flowers on: October 21, 2014 08:33:25 PM
wasn't sure what board to post these on so i'm just posting them in the misc section.

i have tried numerous times (even with cacti) to keep a plant on my desk at work to no avail so i decided i could have fake flowers instead. i didn't really want to just buy some at a craft shop, so i decided to make some out of fabric. hope you guys like them. i could probably write a tutorial if there was any interest for it.

12  COOKING / Dessert / Pandan magic cake on: October 21, 2014 08:30:55 PM
has anyone ever made magic cake before? it's the recipe that turns 1 batter into a 3 layer cake. i've made it once before and it was pretty good so i made it again but flavoured it with pandan essence this time. just decided to go for a dusting of powdered sugar on top (with some cake stencils to be a bit fancy).

13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Anthropologie inspired keychain on: October 21, 2014 08:28:39 PM
I saw a keychain on Anthropologie a while back that was pretty expensive for just a keychain (around $30 i think) so I attempted to make my own version of it. Hope you like it.

14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: 1920s style drop waisted dress on: October 21, 2014 08:09:33 PM
thanks so much for your comments! i think the shoes were quite 20s in their appearance except for the stiletto heel (but i don't think anyone would care too much about that)
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 1920s style drop waisted dress on: October 20, 2014 06:12:37 PM
Hi all, after a 7-8 year hiatus from Crafster, I thought I'd come back and share some of the things I make.

I had a 1920s themed event to attend and I didn't want to hire/purchase a costume, so I attempted to make a drop waisted dress from some blue lace fabric. I am a complete novice sewer so whilst it is far from perfect, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Hope you guys like it  Smiley

Edit: I just posted about how I made the dress on my blog: http://the--novemberist.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/three-how-to-make-1920s-inspired-dress.html

i would definitely be in for round 2 sometime. i really need to learn how to do embroidery after seeing all this amazing stuff. cross stitch is fun but it can be a little tedious.  i think in the animal kingdom, cross stitch would be the craft that turtles would do. lol. turtles are freaking awesome though.
