1  Texas / Texas: Central / Any good places to vend in Austin, for crafters/artist of a darker nature? on: February 15, 2014 04:55:39 PM
I moved here to Austin not to long ago. It's a great place with a great arts community. But it's more of a hipster, hippy, granola nature. And I tend to do work of a darker also also a bit pricey nature.
I'm a fine art doll artist *in about the 70.00 to 1000.00 range* and I also do things like occult jewelry that is under the 60.00 range. So I was wonder ing if anybody had any leads where my work would fit in a little better.I have talked to the one local goth/punk shop here in town and they are into carrying my jewelry but I haven't found many places that cary darker natured fine art work.
I also have a friend who does handmade collage greeting cards. And we are both looking for places to put our work
So any tips would be appreciated Smiley

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilt for a pet squirrel. on: February 15, 2014 04:39:50 PM
A few years back I recused a squirrel and named her Winkelhimer.Since I have a squirrel I have been adopted into the "squirrel community".My friend Julie "the squirrel lady" squirrel Mr Nut had a birthday the other day.And with it being chilly here lately in Austin I made him a little quilt.I'm a doll artist by trade so I'm not a super quilter or anything. But Mr nut seemed to like it.Here are some pic's of it before I wrapped it up.
Mr Manxy the cat is in the pic's to show the scale of the quilt.

This is Julie's baby, and the owner of the quilt Mr Nut,he has his own website called Mr Nut Speaks

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / What is your fave casting resin for BJD dolls? on: June 26, 2013 04:38:03 PM
What casting resin do those of you who do BJD dolls use? I just got a new brand of bright white casting resin and it sets sooooooo fast I gives no time for bubbles to come out.Even if I were to use a presser pot I wouldn't be able to pressurize it fast enough to get the bubbles out.

5  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Anybody know of a feathered back piece tute? on: May 29, 2013 05:28:11 PM
Anybody know of anywhere to find tutorials on making feathered back pieces like these.
I have a basic idea of how to do them. But do they put buckram or something on the back part to make it stiff or do they make a wire frame or what?
Here is a pic of the back of what I'm talking about http://www.neckelmanns.com/imagelib/sitebuilder/misc/show_image.html?linkedwidth=actual&linkpath=http://www.neckelmanns.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/img_7129.jpg&target=_self
