Like anything else, your milage is going to vary depending on how you knit and what yarn your using.  Don't recast  yet.  See how much yours is stretching first.

I apologize for hijacking the thread but the last picture reminded me of the pics my dad takes just for fun.  He could have really used some of your insight on what would make a good 50s recreation!
Mods- It appears as tho this is hotlinked but I am actually the owner of said link.

Ok,, I don't claim to know how to fix this,, hard to tell unless I have it in my hand but.  This is what it looks like to me.  I flipped your image upside down.  You can see the stitch definition real well on the orange row.

24  spiral hat from IK holiday issue in Knitting: Completed Projects by funkyhooker on: January 03, 2007 12:15:16 PM

Please excuse my ultra dorkiness.  I'm home sick today and made this this morning/afternoon.  I LOVE IT!  I think I'm gonna make the mittens too.  The Holiday issue of Interweave knits has been one of my favorite issues.

This pattern taught me something new.  I learned how to do applied Icord. (the headband)  It was tricky because the instructions were vauge but I love the way it feels!  It also has the prettiest spiral pattern which is totally lost in the picture.  This Patons Nuance is so soft and nice to knit with.

Here's the original pattern photo, you can see the spiral better.

25  tough guys wear slippers. in Knitting: Completed Projects by funkyhooker on: December 25, 2006 07:22:48 PM
I made a ton of these bad boys for people this year.  The pattern is simple, free, and smart looking!
 http://www.knitlist.com/97gift/desertboots.htm
The pattern calls for just one strand but I double the strand and used a 10.5 needle and they fit a man's size 12 foot just right.  I'd made like 5 pair before my husband requested a pair.  Here they are, getting good use.

26  Re: "Toy" Knitting Machine Completed Objects Knitalong in Knitalongs by funkyhooker on: December 24, 2006 07:22:47 PM

The harry potter scarf I made for a friend using my singer knitting machine.

It's really wide when it's flattened but since he edges roll a bit it tends to strech and shrivel a bit so it's about like a skinny scarf. I hope it's not to girly for him. *crossed singers*
Oh and bonus pic of it on the machine:

That's great.  Got one of these for my kid for Christmas.  *I* look forward to playing with it tomorrow.  BTW,, I totally have that candy dish! LOL

Ok, I'm letting this freak me out.  I'm having issues with the next part of the pattern.  Here's what I've got so far

Now, the next part says "working to 3st from end of needle #1, K2tog, K1.
Is the K2tog, K1 pat the gusset decrease?  Cuz if I do that on my next needle (the one to the left with 30 st.) then it won't put my decrease in the right spot.  How do I divide these stitches up?  I have a feeling that my 21,21,30,30 is on the wrong needles.  HELP!
