1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Clapotis from Knitty on: October 16, 2007 05:32:51 AM
'm just working up to starting a clap of my own for a friends wedding. What really swung it for me was when I saw a lady wearing one while I was at work. I got ridiculously excited and started gabbling to my (non kitter) friend about it, which only resulted in her giving me very strange looks! It was just exciting to actually spot someone in real life wearing a pattern I recognised!

Thats such a great idea! My dad used to be a radio operator, so would love something like this jumper. Even the spelling mistake made me smile!

Hello! Just thought I'd post this in case anyone fancies it. Its a Uk based company, but I'm sure anyone willing to post from overseas would be welcome. I'm about to start a little stash busting and thought this would be the perfect opportunity!

this pattern is ace! and Chihiro, yours looks lovely. I was looking at the pattern for it though, and it says that you need two lengths of needle. Having never knitted a jumper in the round like this before, I was wondering if someone could help explain where you use each length, as I can't seem to find it in the pattern. thankyou!

everyone's cds seem great! I'm really glad you liked mine ohmyword, i was a bit worried that the covers were all a bit messy, but I guess they came out ok. Sorry I can't seem to post pictures of yours, my housemates camera is playing up, but I can assure everyone they were ace!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: problems with 1x1 rib on circulars on: April 04, 2006 03:14:58 PM
thankyou very much! hmmmm. I'm pretty sure thats what I've been doing, checking the number of stitches and everything. I guess I'll just persevere and see what happens. sorry for asking a pretty stupid question, but I couldn't find any explanation that dealt with such a basic problem online. thankyou again!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / problems with 1x1 rib on circulars on: April 04, 2006 10:01:13 AM
Right. I've just started making the elizabethtown hat for a friend and its my first time using circulars. I was doing fine with casting on, joining and making sure the stitches weren't twisted. However, I've tried twice now and I just can't get the 1x1 rib to work. both times its just not looked like rib and I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. So, I thought I'd check with you ladies to see what my problem was. Am I right in thinking that in 1x1 you start with a knit stitch on every row? because thats the only thing I can think i might be messing up. Is it different with circulars? thankyou for any help you might be able to give!
