that's pretty sweet...what band is it?

Say Anything... No ones really heard of them but they are really the best. I love max!

I've heard of them! I love "Admit it", it's hilarious.

I loved the old "House of Fabrics" stores, but I don't think they're around anymore. Here in California they have Joann's and Hancock Fabrics as the main chains. F&S Fabrics in LA is the best ever, though. I love making things out of kettle cloth or broadcloth. It has a texture in it already, but isn't too hard to work with, and comes in the most amazing colors.

It's gorgeous, and I don't think you'll look silly in Spain. European women dress, so just wear it with a simple tank or something!

Sorry to just say the same thing as everyone else, but that's fantastic! I absolutely love it.

Rather unrelated, but I'd thought about making that pattern before, but I'm short-waisted and worried that it would be really unflattering. Looks amazing on you, good job!

I had picked up a pattern and fabric in the States last summer, and made this.

In the states...
Where are you from & where did you visit? Cheesy

Your dress is lovely, it suits you very well! You are right, the color does look grey Wink

I'm American, but I live in Italy. Italian women do sew, but it's all done very formally and expensively, and I've never been able to figure it all out, so I get things when I go home for the summer. Even though it looks grey, it doesn't keep the vertical stripes from being rather flattering.

That is SUCH a lovely dress. You look really great in it, and it looks really, really well-made, too! What difficulty was the pattern rated at? I bought a Butterick pattern for a top last year ot thereabouts when I was young and stupid, and started making it though that fabric I bought it kind of wacky....Ahem. Anway - what difficulty is it rated at?

It was rated Average, and I'm not super-experienced, but I didn't find it difficult at all. Also, I had my mother (who's amazing) to pin it on me over and over and over. I must have tried it on thirty times, and that's not exaggerating.

Graduation at my high school is quite a to-do, and there's a banquet the night before the actual ceremony, so I needed a dress. I had picked up a pattern and fabric in the States last summer, and made this. It looks grey in the pictures but is actually black with tiny cream stripes, in a very retro sort of way.

It's Butterick 4183 view B, and I really liked the pattern, if I ever need a dress in a hurry I'll make this one again.

Back Shot:

The straps and trim are black sheer ribbon, and really added a nice touch, I think. Excuse the wrinkles as these were taken after the banquet itself.
18  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: -blackheads- on: May 21, 2005 06:47:47 AM
I have the same problem, and I find that the best way is just keeping the area very very clean. Don't wear lipstick or lipliner if you can help it, and use peroxide or rubbing alcohol on a cotton bud along that line a few times a day. If your skin is already on the dry side, I'd use the peroxide instead of rubbing alcohol.

I'm just finishing making this one (Butterick 4183) and it's very simple and very flattering. I made view B, but they're all very similar.

As soon as I get it hemmed I'll put pictures up!

That one looks close enough, you could shorten it, add a petticoat and a sash.
