1  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Jennifer Aniston's dress in The Break-Up on: April 05, 2009 07:53:16 AM
I agree. Ms. Aniston looks great in everything! Love this dress! I want one! That being said, it looks like a regular slip dress with extra material around the bodice and the waist. It looks like the extra material around the bodice is attached at the straps. If you can find a pattern for a slip dress and add those extra details, I think you would be all set!

However, the material choice is what separates the men from the boys here. I am not sure where you live, but I was just remarking to my mom after a trip to the local JoAnn's; the fabric choices suck here in NW Ohio. Maybe you could look for designer fabric online or maybe you live in a larger city.
2  Ohio / Ohio: Northwest / Re: crafters of toledo ans surrounding areas on: July 15, 2008 08:14:52 PM
I wanted to post because I live in Toledo, but I don't know where you would do that. There are some local clothing stores around town, maybe in Sylvania or downtown. Maybe pick up a City Paper and look through the ads in the back.
3  Ohio / Ohio: Northwest / Re: Bowling Green on: July 15, 2008 08:12:09 PM
This IS an old thread. Just a heads up. Fiberworx is closing and they are having a going out of business sale as I write this. I haven't been because it was so expensive and I am so broke, but if you are in the area, then by all means check it out.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Patrones - pattern magazine on: May 17, 2008 06:34:46 PM
I know that this isn't helpful in the least, but I love that dress on the cover.

On edit: I did a search for the magazine and came across this blog:
http://www.stacysews.com/projects/general/20061226_found.shtml

A little ways down, she talks about how she gets her Patrones from someone on eBay.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: pattern paralysis! on: April 20, 2008 08:23:08 PM
I'm sure you will do great! On the pattern instructions, there is an explanation of what the symbols mean. I am not an expert sewist by any means, and I learned by doing and making mistakes, over and over. I think the most important thing to remember is this (it's advice my mom adds on to all sewing advice she gives me):

Always sew right sides together. Especially if you are sewing in linings.

Good luck and don't be afraid to rip out seams that don't work!
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Purse on the cover of Vogue Pattern magazine, November on: November 30, 2007 07:27:56 AM
Thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for! I post photos when I get it made.
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Purse on the cover of Vogue Pattern magazine, November on: November 29, 2007 05:13:49 PM
Does anyone have this magazine, Vogue Patterns, from November with the green tote on the cover. I am trying to find the pattern number for it. I sent away for a back issue, but Hancock Fabrics' Vogue pattern sale ($3.88 ea.!) starts tomorrow and I can't wait!

Many thanks!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: recommend a shirt dress pattern on: January 22, 2007 07:29:50 PM
In the latest Vogue Pattern magazine, there is a really cut shirt dress. The number is V8352. I haven't made it, but I am going to. There is a thread on Craftster where a member made a really cut shirtdress. If you do a search, you could probably find it.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Vogue 2920 Donna Karen Suit on: January 13, 2007 06:19:58 AM
I love those pants! My current obsession is pants so I am always on the lookout.
10  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: Mccall 5177 badly drafted sleeves on: January 13, 2007 06:13:21 AM
I made that dress and had the same problem with the sleeves! It got me to thinking I was built like a linebacker. I didn't alter it, I just didn't finish it.

I love your version! The fabric is beautiful and the trim looks great!
