1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Deco Swap #3 (Mail out 5/17/04) on: December 05, 2004 06:38:21 PM
As per my post a while ago, I never received Mama Says. About the third week of August Fever was sent out (Rivanya must have had it for a while since it just arrived in the hands of hijole today) . At the end of August Oceans arrived back to me. I haven't seen or heard anything new since my last post.
I've pretty much stopped doing swaps or trading on Craftster for now after numerous bad experiences and only two positive ones. Usually it's people not holding up their end of the swap and then falling off the face of the earth, but sometimes it appears to be just postal issues.
I'm sorry for those of you who didn't get your decos back in the mail Sad

Nope- I never received Mama Says  Sad I just got Oceans back in the mail today though. Fever went out last week sometime. Wondering if Rivanya received it yet?
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: "Big Teacup" Tea Bag Holder on: August 04, 2004 02:27:19 PM
OK- So how long did it take you to do this? I can't knit or crochet (yet!) but I am just finishing a tea themed quilt for a friend for her wedding in a few weeks. This would be just the perfect touch since I was planning on putting together a gift basket with assorted teas anyway. Whaddya think? Could I work out some sort of deal to buy one from you or a trade or do they just take too darned long?!!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Animal Swap on: August 03, 2004 06:54:38 PM
I would definitely be interested in swapping cat supplies. We're up to 7 of them now!

I just got the FEVER deco in the mail today  Smiley but still no sign of MAMA SAYS yet Sad. I'll be sure to post when it shows up. Glad to hear the others have surfaced and are on the move again. Is MAMA SAYS the last one I'm getting? I can't even remember now. Huh
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Help Painting on Mugs on: July 29, 2004 06:36:39 AM
Does anyone here have any experience painting on ceramic mugs? What type of paint holds up best and would allow me to get fine details?  Huh
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Homemade Soap. on: July 29, 2004 06:30:54 AM
Recipes made with crisco are definitely easy and trace pretty fast, but I don't care for them much. My favorite recipe by her is the sudsy all vegetable. It has a great lather and doesn't use any trans fats. I also might suggest that if you think you're seriously going to do this you invest in a stick blender which speeds up trace ten fold. Marbled soaps are pretty and a lot of fun, but you might want to try a batch without marbling first just to see what trace looks like and to get comfortable with a particular recipe and see how quickly it hardens first. Good luck!

Kathy Miller's site is definitely the best place to start. I didn't find it until after I had bought several books and made a bunch of batches of soap and I still like it the best. I would say just start with a few simple, basic recipes. Don't invest in too many exotic ingredients (many of which have limited shelf lives) or fancy molds until you get the hang of it and decide what you like and don't like. Also you'll want to try a bunch of different coloring techniques- there are many out there. Have fun - it's very addicting!
9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Deco Swap #3 (Mail out 5/17/04) on: July 27, 2004 05:36:36 PM
Also, for a new deco swap group I joined I had to make three different choose-a-page flower decos - one for my swap partner, one for myself, and one for someone else. Since I'm new to decos and this is the only other swap I've done I thought I would ask if any of you would like that other one to be made for you. It is already done, I just need to add the names of the flowers for the various pages in. First one to e-mail me with their mailing address and 5 types of flowers gets it. Please don't PM as I won't be back on Craftster tonight. My e-mail is in my profile. Thanks!
