2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / i need some honest opinions on: June 12, 2007 08:56:06 AM
so all of my friends and family swear that they love the jewelry i make.

i did one craft fair a couple months back, and i did decently, i guess, based on the turnout.

but i need some honest to goodness comments and criticisms.

what do you think of this stuff? i'm only posting 4 examples for now, hoping that whatever you say will help me out for the rest.

thanks in advance.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / so i made my sister's jewelry for prom... on: April 23, 2007 10:42:56 AM
made up of 100+ swarovski crystals and lots of antique brass wire. the earrings are hanging on some of the pins at the neck of my mannequin, Stella. My sister hasn't seen the finished results yet.. she just asked for a "big, sparkly" necklace. hopefully she likes it!

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / First time working a craft fair... help! on: March 27, 2007 06:52:39 PM
I have my first craft fair on Saturday. The only thing I'm worried about is how much stuff to bring. I'll be selling jewelry and monsters. [myspace.com/octopickleind for pics of monsters]
For the monsters, I'm just taking custom orders.
For the jewelry, however, I have a limited amount. My display holds 18 pairs of earrings and about 14 bracelets. Should I make enough jewelry to fully restock the display incase [wishful thinking] I sold out of everything? Or should I make doubles of things? Just to replace what was sold? I'm so lost.

Any advice at all you could offer would be greatly appreciated!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / ghosts and knits! on: March 09, 2006 06:38:32 PM
i hadn't made anything recently unless it was for school, and i realized today how disappointed i was in myself for that.
so VIOLA! i made 2 new bags. they're just little guys, but they're oh so cute.
i think so, anyway.

this one's blue vinyl with little ghost buttons on the front!
[and a sheer purple ribbon for the handle]

complete with spiderwebs and spiders for the lining!
[sorry for the image quality Undecided]

i just started knitting with the remainers of a skein of thick yarn, and it became this:

complete with zipper closure!
[its really not as crooked at it looks in this pic]

Thanks for looking <3
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Felt dino and skull! ALSO! whale, crayon and name magnets! on: February 03, 2006 08:38:11 AM
Today is my friend Dano's birthday.
Every time I think of her name, I think "Dano-saur"
in honor of her 20th bday, i decided to make her, her own little danosaur!

she has a thing for squares... so he has square spots!

so maybe he is bowlegged. dont make fun. he's sensitive.

ALSO! I couldnt figure out what else to make her, but I was looking thru the felt posts this morning and came across some cute felt skulls, so I made one of those as well.

she's a magnet!

while I was in class, i decided to make more stuff:

"Dano" name magnet

whale magnet

magnets in action with a horriffic glare

and she has tattoos of crayons, SO crayon pins!

they can be worn seperately, or in the box

thanks for looking Smiley

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Crafts for Dad and Grandpa?! on: December 20, 2005 07:36:02 AM
Yes, its 5 days till xmas, but I still need help!!

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with some things to make for my dad and grandpa- the two hardest people to buy for EVER. I've already personalized some beer glasses for them, which just say "dad's beer" and "grandpa's beer" ... not too creative, but hey, its a start.

I bought my dad a bunch of stuff, but my mom's gifts outweigh dad's gifts by a ton. same with my grandma's gifts compared to grandpa's. girls are just easier to shop for!

dad is really into elvis and johnny cash, but i've already painted him pictures and bought posters and cds of them for past holidays. he really likes birds, too. but i dont want to make something girly.

grandpa is also into birds. and the navy, since he was in it for a while. i've already made him birdhouses out the rear, i dont think there's any more room for those. i was thinking of making something relating to the navy, but i dont know what. mom already made him a scrapbook of his navy days for last xmas, and got him a bunch of navy memoribilia.

as you can see, i'm stuck.

does anyone have any ideas?! thank you in advance!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / metal broach on: December 13, 2005 02:48:05 PM
in my jewelry class at school, we were required to hand-make a broach made of metal.
the only requirements were that we must have at least 1 texture, 2 rivets, and 2 parts soldered on.

i chose the dirtiest metal i could find, just because.. well.. i dont like clean metal. it has no character.

anywho, this is what i came up with.

if you cant tell [which a lot of people cant at first], its a ribcage with a heart behind it.
the ribcage is made of nickel, the heart is copper, and the backing piece is bronze.

it looked AMAZING until i had to put it in the chemical bath before i was able to sauder it... now it just looks all burnt and kinda crappy. but i refuse to buff it and shine it, i still think this is better than that.

its all burnt because my teacher is insane and instead of using a soldering gun, we used a TORCH. c'maaaaan.

anyway, what do you think?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / painted tshirts on: December 13, 2005 02:39:22 PM
