1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Twister Bag (Semi img heavy) on: August 07, 2006 05:23:52 PM
I made this twister bag before school let out mainly for exam week. I used it the whole week and it was a lot better than carrying around a book bag. I got many compliments that week as well. Smiley I have seen a twister bag here before, buuut I used the search and can't find it. That's where I got the idea from, but that person said theirs had fallen apart, mine is just the opposite. It's very durable Cheesy

^There it is with the stairs as my model Smiley

^Probably the reason that it's so durable is due to the fact that I sewed each piece together, then ducttaped it very slowly and neatly. I knew once the tape was down I wouldn't be able to pull it back up, so I made sure to go neatly. I didn't make a lining, knowing no one would really care about the inside.

^ A close up of the stitching as well as the duct tape.

^ You can't see the strap in the other pictures and I wanted to make sure it got its glamour shot  Roll Eyes

^Action shot? I guess you could say...

And that's my twister bag Smiley
One side says "A game that ties you up in knots" And the other says "A stockin' feet game"  Cheesy

The only complaint I have is when I have an algebra book and my binders + a notebook, the strap kind of stretches. The strap's long to begin with and when it stretches it sends the bag to down to my knees, beating them when I walk. If you have any suggestions for this, I'd definitely love to hear them. I plan on using it again when school starts Cheesy
Comments/complaints/criticism very welcome

Any craft ideas for a new-time sewer? I plan on making a messenger bag, and getting supplies for stencils. I really want to make some hats (beret-style) but I can't find a pattern Sad.

Any suggestions on some first time projects?
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewable hats?? on: December 28, 2005 11:18:01 AM
Does anyone know of/have a pattern for a sewable beret or other beret style type hat? I saw a miniscule tutorial that I can't seem to find now...

I can't knit or crochet and I have an obsession with punkish/ska style berets. If anyone could help me out, I would love you forever  Kiss
