1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Spindle making question on: August 01, 2008 05:02:55 PM
Hi all! I'm thinking about making a spindle and was wondering what, besides a wooden toy wheel, could be used. The CD ones look interesting, but how does it attach? If this has already been asked, I'm sorry for repeating. Thank you!
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Dying wool yarn on: September 04, 2007 09:53:19 AM
Hi everyone! I have four skeins of Lion's Fisherman Wool that I would like to dye. My plan is to use three or four colors for a stripey effect when knit up. What would be the best method for making 1600 yards of yarn all the same "dye lot"? I've only ever used a little pot of Rit on the stove, so I'm lost. Please help!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Thank you! on: July 06, 2007 10:01:31 AM
Hi everyone! I just have a story. I love to crochet but have wanted to knit for years. I finally got it to click recently and am ecstatic about it. I love yarn and making things with yarn. I'm excited about the projects that I have seen here. You all have been so inspirational to me. I love reading all of your advice and seeing what you do. I have my clapotis and razor cami patterns printed out, waiting for me to try. I have a pattern from Knitty Gritty that I'm ready to start on (I love that show!). Are there any other must-knit patterns that I should print out and aspire to? Thanks again for your indirect help, and direct help on the questions I've asked in the past. Craftsters are the best!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / yarn sub site on: June 14, 2007 10:09:18 AM
Hi everyone! I was on here yesterday and someone shared a site that helped find yarn substitutions for patterns and now I can't find it. Can you help me? I promise I will bookmark it this time! Thanks!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What's your favorite yarn? on: June 01, 2007 10:32:30 AM
I've been a good girl lately, using up alot of my stash, and would like to reward myself with some new yarns. What are everyones faves? Both affordable and luxury.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitty Gritty yarn dying question on: April 20, 2007 10:20:59 AM
Hi1 I saw on Knitty Gritty how to dye yarn to make it self-striping, but I can't seem to find the directions on the diy website. Do any of you know how to do it or where I can find directions? (I watch it at 6am on hgtv and wasn't awake enough, I guess, to pay complete attention) Thanks!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Stretchy yarn question on: March 30, 2007 09:51:37 AM
I just bought some stretchy yarn from elann and was wondering how to use it. Do you stretch it as you crochet? The patterns don't seem to say.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn girls Guide on: March 23, 2007 10:01:51 AM
Has anyone made a sweater from The Yarn Girls Guide to Simple Knits? I'm a new knitter, and the book says that the patterns aren't hard. I've found several that I would love to try. What do you think?
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Vacation clothes on: November 15, 2006 09:44:02 AM
My boyfriend and I are talking about going on vacation somewhere tropical - probably Jamaica. My problem is that I have no clothes to take and no idea what to wear there. What are some things that I could make as a vacation wardrobe?
10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / recovering boots on: December 15, 2005 06:37:46 PM
Hi everyone. I've been enjoying all of the creativity here for awhile, and I'm sure you can help me. My favorite boots are starting to wear out, and I would like to cover them with some new fabric. They are stretchy, so I thought some panne velvet would look fun. Could someone please recommend an adhesive that would work with stretch? Is there a better idea? Thanks!
