31  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Mug Rug Swap (SignUp CLOSED, SendOut Feb 21 2011) on: January 25, 2011 04:30:24 AM
My internet has been down over the weekend, but i've managed to do some stalking from my iphone.  I, too, have too many ideas and too much fabric to choose from (and I may be guilty of ordering a bit more fabric especially for this swap...).  I've got to finish up a few things for another swap before I buckle down and start my mug rugs - but I did finish a practice one yesterday and must say that I'm really proud of it!  My first time with tiny patchwork and with binding, and it turned out well!  My hand sewing for the binding could use a little work and I wish I had a walking foot for my machine, but I was amazed that my corners turned out to look like corners Smiley
32  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap December 2010 on: January 25, 2011 04:16:33 AM
My last card for December (wah!) from WideEyedLife:

It's hard to see in the picture, but it's very 3-D.  The fish in the middle is raised off the background, the seaweed is raised and the coral is painted on the aquarium "glass" which is actually plastic from a juice bottle!
Thank you!  A very cool idea that turned out really well!
33  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: 1 Dotee, I ATC and 4 Inchies Gallery Send out Feb. 12, 2011 on: January 25, 2011 04:10:21 AM
I received from Kmichele and thisbirdsabsurd last week and am finally getting around to showing off my great packages...
First, from Kmichele:

One of my themes, obviously, was fairly tales Smiley  I wish I could draw like that!  So pretty - especially the snow white dotee!  Thank you K!

And then from thisbirdsabsurd:

The Dotee is made from polymer clay!  I have absolutely no skills in that area, so I'm super-impressed!  The hands on the clock even move!  But for some reason my favorite part is the fish inchies - I love the water-color shading and his smirk!  Thanks J!

Just signed up!  Couldn't help myself Smiley

my progress report:  wearable - ~75% complete (I'm also in the tedious-but-pretty knitting boat.  Note to self:  no more fine-gauge knitting for swaps!)  drinkable - obtained!  drink accessory - working on a couple, one is almost done and the other just started but prettty quick.  I have another little project in mind if I get this stuff finished in the next few days, so I'm not planning on sending right away...

I'm all ready to pack up my things and send - hopefully I'll get to the post office tomorrow!

That's a really pretty scarf - what pattern is it?

I'm glad you like everything Slingmomma!  I forgot to tell you - the woven scarf is also handspun (and not superwash!).  I'm just starting to weave - that's my second project on my little cricket loom - but it's a great way to stashbust!  That scarf took one day (which of course means one day of five-minute bursts in between chasing insane toddler) and less than 4 ounces of handspun as weft.
The pattern for the triangle scarf is super-easy, it just looks cool because I used self-striping sock yarn:

All my ATCs and inchies are done - I've got one dotee left to finish and then I can send!  I think my dotees might be a little larger than regulation, though...  I have to measure once they're all stuffed...

I haven't heard from my partner yet, but I've started on the wearable item because it's going to take a while.  I sure hope I don't find out later that it's her least favorite thing in the world or something and have to start over!  I've also planned the drink and related items but haven't started there yet...
