zcrafter, your quilt is done too!  The evil thing in this house is the child - and she decided to give me a good 2 hour break yesterday!
In the interest of finishing on time, I tried a machine binding tutorial I found online, and am not perfectly pleased with how it turned out... but it isn't that bad.  I really admire all you ladies who can stand to hand stitch bindings to full-sized quilts - I don't think I could ever have the patience!

Sorry I've been so quiet - I've been sick twice in the past month (as has my kiddo, who also has been refusing naps Sad  )
Still, I'm almost done - just a little more quilting and the binding to finish.  The stars finally aligned yesterday and she took a little nap - I ran downstairs to work on the quilt, and of course my sewing machine had a meltdown that took nearly the whole snooze time to fix.  Hopefully it will be finished on time!

Bleh.  I've been really sick all week (plus 7mo pregnant and chasing a 2yr old) and haven't gotten any further on my quilt.  I have the background done and most of the focal point applique embroidered though.  Thank goodness for long crafting times!

I'm hoping to join this swap if I get feedback from some other swaps in time - I have the perfect pattern idea, I think...

I've had a bit better luck with my third (!) attempt at what I've been trying - but I'm still not sure it's going to work out as planned...  I may have to switch gears after all, but I don't really want to...

My background is all pieced together and finished, but I've suffered my first failure on the applique/embellishment front.  I'm going to try again before I start to plot out plan B...

I was a little intimidated when I read my partner's questionnaire - I think we have very different taste and I wasn't sure I could come up with an idea that she would like (and I would like to make!).  But after a little stalking, I now have a plan!  And it's one I'm very excited about Smiley  But I'm going to have to do a lot of experimenting and trial runs to get my quilt to look anything like the image in my head (I hope I can do it!).
Now if my order from dharmatrading would arrive...
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Paper & Ephemera Swap Round 8 Gallery on: February 28, 2011 06:36:17 PM
I received today from wax51 - I had to take pics pretty quickly and I wasn't able yet to go through everything in the jam-packed envelope because my crazy 2yr-old was "helping" me, but I can tell that I'm going to have a lot of fun with this stuff!

There's a ton of vintage stuff:  valentines, playing cards, electronics magazine, book pages, etc.  Bits of ribbon and other little things.  Some stickers (some already claimed by kid...) scrapbook papers, paint chips - all kinds of stuff!

She also sent a cool ATC and a hand-drawn picture of a bird:

Thank you!
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Mug Rug Swap Gallery! (SendOut Feb 22) on: February 28, 2011 06:29:40 PM
I got a really amazing mug rug from Imafundork - the front is all paper-pieced and hand stitched!  I can't imagine the patience it took to do this, but I am incredibly impressed!

and the back:

I love the fabric choices, it's really cute.  My pictures are kind of washed-out and I wish I didn't have to make them so small to make Craftster happy - this rug deserves bigger!
Thank you Kara!  It's beautiful  Smiley
