I'd still like to post them in a thread here though.

Thanks Meowari
I do have some other stuff, I'm just not sure where to post it. I have a quilt I'm doing for the bed, and a wallhanging (maybe) that is focused on embroidery and embellishment.
OOhh...decisions decisions  Huh    Maybe I'll just put the on my Flicka account.
Are you aloud to link to things like that?? I'm a newbie here so I'm not sure of the protocol.

Guidance appreciated

Kia ora Birdnerd.   Grin
The calico bags are from Pac'n'Save and Foodtown. The Foodtown one has a gusset in it and is quite BIG. The P'n'S one is a nice size. You buy them at the checkout, they are $2 approx. They do have a 'green'  logo, but that gets covered by the patch, and  you can put a pocket on the inside to cover it from the inside ( I would do this if I sold them).I think they would dye Ok too.
Spotlight also has some nice coloured bags, but they are smaller and cost $5.
The green fabric came from a lady off 'Trademe'. She is very reasonably priced, and offers a huge colour choice .

If you do make one, post it here and show it off.......

Shame you didn't get many replies to this.
Maybe try posting in the Swap thread or something. There are lots of sewers here who may not come to the quilting thread, but may be happy to whip out a simple block.

"Thanks guys" she says, as she soaks up the glow of praise that exudes from the computer screen......
CrazeeMoi, the spiral pattern just kinda happened. I wanted some black in the patches, and after the first couple of pieces, I just kept going. It worked really well with the green tote.

Give it a go, its not hard. These kind of patches can be run up easily on a sewing machine, I just prefer to do them by hand. I use the 'stitch and flip' method, so no icky paper piecing.

Go on..........do it..........you know you want to...... Wink

Hey, fellow craftstermaniacs!!
I'm loving this board and all the great and original work you guys do.
Here are some pictures (hopefully,if all goes well) of a couple of totes I've made recently.
I would appreciate your opinions. My true passion is crazy quilting, but these bags are quick to put together, and fun to do.

The bags they are on are pre-made - supermarket recycleable calico bags.
The patches are hand sewn and hand stitched on to 'iron on' vylene (sp??), ironed on to the bag then stitched down around the edges.

I used a verigated thread for the stitching on the green bag. It needed the colour.

This is a gift for a friend

awaiting your verdicts.......
