21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hoover Baby Blanket Variation 2 on: March 16, 2008 01:15:27 PM
i finally finished my version of the Hoover baby blanket from Knittyfor my cousin and his wife who are due next month. it took forever but i'm really happy with the result. it was hard to get good pictues of it on my carpet, it is actually rectangular not all wonky. i used 2 balls of pattons canadiania in oatmeal and 3 balls of pattons canadiana in winter white. i just think acrylic makes sense for a baby blanet.

here's the pattern http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATThoover.html

29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Musical Madness Toy Box on: November 11, 2007 01:48:55 PM
i have no money (thats what i get quitting my job to go farming all summer!) so most of my xmas gifts will be crafted this year. i felt bad for my nephew who is nearly 3 though so i decided to give him all my old wooden musical instruments and i also bought a few new ones. to make it extra special, and to keep them organized i made this box for them and i'm super happy with the outcome.

i bought the box, 1 sheet of white stickey back felt, 2 sheets of black sparkle felt and 1 sheet of white sparkle felt for about $9 at michaels craft store.

here is the top of the box. zack is obviously the name of my nephew.

the front side

back side

left side (i think my treble clef is backwards!) i did this with sharpie on the felt. im not sure if i like it but its ok.

right side

inside (i lined the bottom with some of the sparkley black felt)

thanks for looking!

here's mine! next time id do it with a thicker fabric or line it but i had this fabric to use up. im awful at sewing so this actually turned out well for me.

the patch on it reads "that which fuels our fires leaves ashes in our hearts" and has a girl holding a crowbar!
