1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Adjustable pants hem??? on: December 11, 2013 08:13:20 AM
I'm working on some pants for my little grandson (16 months), and my daughter wants me to make them longer (too long) and add straps and buttons to roll up the hems so my grandson will be able to wear them longer.  Does anyone know of a tutorial or how to do this?  I've seen pants like this for adults where you can roll up the pants, and hold them up with straps (I think the straps are inside the legs), but I don't have any to look at, and if anyone has any suggestions like - how long to make the straps, where to place them, do I put on more than one button on the pants or more than one button hole in the strap?  Dear daughter wants two straps per leg, one on the side seam and one on the inseam.  Straps on the inside and buttons on the outside?

I love to sew, but I just can't do it on the fly.
