I really like the pale violet one.  I can never sew with gauze and ribbons without ending up with giant snarls and tangles.  You have inspired me to try more hand sewing.
253  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re:Band shirt and a plaid pleated skirt on: April 17, 2004 03:28:13 PM
The design on the front looks awsome. Good work.
254  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re:Pleated polka- dot skirt on: April 17, 2004 03:25:38 PM
Wow! It looks like an awsomely sweet cupcake.  The pleating looks very good.

Brilliant.  I think I might make a cyber-style one.
256  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re:good mini sewing mechine on: March 19, 2004 12:07:47 PM
Minis = No good.   I have one that I thought would act as a temporary measure until I could get a decent sewing machine.  It is absolutely awful-- I'm basically not doing any sewing anymore. I can barely get it to make a straight line.
257  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re:When copycats profit... on: March 19, 2004 11:52:53 AM
Um.  I didn't get a chance to read the whole thing because the store was closing, but in this months Bust the legal advice question is from a girl who was making punk rock sock monkeys and then one day saw EXACT replicas in a chain store.  She was asking about her legal recourse--from what I could tell the lawyer said there wasn't much she could do, but as I said I didn't get a chance to finish the whole answer.  I think the gist was that if you have an awsome idea you should patent it (cheaper than you would expect).  Anyways, all those who have one specific item that they sell should probably look into it.

I was wondering how one would go about saving people's genius ideas.  As a student I often only have time to get inspired and it is 3 weeks before I get around to the project.   Is there any way to flag certain ideas so that you can come back to them later instead of searching through the archives?

Thanks.
259  CANADA / British Columbia / Re:Vancouver - Consignment? on: March 14, 2004 12:58:57 AM
Burcu's Angels is a great store but Burcu is not somebody you should trust easily.   I don't want to say anything specific, but there have been a few instances when I have witnessed her acting in an underhanded manner.
I would check with Temple of the Modern Girl (above True Value Vintage) I met one of the managers at a party a few weeks ago and she told me i should bring my stuff in (sadly I'm not confident enough in the quality of my garments yet--when i start selling i want to know that my stuff will hold up.)  Anyways, they really like supporting local designers, so check with them.
260  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re:Heavy Metal!!! on: March 08, 2004 06:58:40 PM
Wow.  I've been holding onto the patterns, going "yeh, soon I'll teach myself to embroider"  but seeing how well your first attempt at embroidery went I think I'm just going to dive in.
