Details of swap:

Right, listen up you bunch of pansies. I want volunteers for a job. It could get a bit tasty so we're going to have to go in tooled up. I'm talking needles, string and lots of beige. If you can't hack it, walk away now.

Your job is to craft a package based on the BBC series Life on Mars. You'll be assigned a partner and you'll be using this new-fangled 'wide world of web' to talk to her (or him. We're not sexists here). You'll make one large, one medium and one small item for your partner who in turn will make something for you. Remember to talk to each other. If there's an odd number of participants I'll make it a round-robin instead.

Right you tarts! get moving.

If you want to participate, information to send to your guv'nor:

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Yet another pair of Jaywalkers on: August 28, 2007 05:58:36 AM
I made some Jaywalkers for my mum. The yarn is June's sock club yarn from The Yarn Yard. On the whole I'm pleased with the end result...

... but my mum can't get them on! I know the pattern doesn't have much stretch, but she has delicate feet and ankles and I'm by no means a tight knitter. Has anyone else had the same problem with Jaywalkers? I know it's a really popular pattern. These beauties are going to have to be passed on to someone with twiglet ankles Roll Eyes
4  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / A tip-off for Craftsters: bead shop in London on: August 01, 2007 05:43:06 AM
I went for a little stroll yesterday lunchtime and found the most amazing shop selling beads and findings. It's called Bellore and it's in Greville Streeet EC1, near Hatton Garden. They also sell online.

I can't vouch for their customer service because I haven't actually bought anything in there yet. But it was like an Aladdin's cave of beady loveliness.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Monkey magic! on: April 18, 2007 08:48:52 AM
I made a pair of Monkeys. I loved knitting this pattern. It worked up really quickly and didn't get boring at all. The yarn is the April sock club yarn from The Yarn Yard.

These are a gift for a friend. I'm definitely going to make some for myself as well and I've got just the yarn in mind too...

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mushroom bag and socks on: March 02, 2007 05:46:56 AM
I made these for the mushroom swap. Now my partner has received them I thought I'd post them here too.

Felted bag made using Twilley's Freedom Wool. I didn't follow a pattern, but it's very loosely inspired by the Booga bag (http://www.blacksheepbags.com/booga_bag.html) except smaller and with a flap.

And mushroom-coloured socks. The pattern for these is the Cable Twist sock from Hello Yarn (http://www.helloyarn.com/cabletwistsocks.htm). I made them shorter by one pattern repeat because I was a bit worried about running out of yarn, and I used a short-row heel instead of a flap because I prefer the way it looks when doing a contrasting heel. The yarn is Jaeger Extra Fine Merino which was a pleasure to work with. Next time I'm in John Lewis I shall get some more to make socks for me Cheesy

Thanks for looking.
