11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / The Stereotypical Knitter on: March 09, 2004 08:04:11 PM
This isn't really a "Future Project" but it's something to think about.  I myself have only recently been thrown into the world of the knitter due to the influence of a very good friend.  And it occured to me that many people think knitting is just for old grandmothers.  I was in an art class a week or two ago and I brought up that I thought it would be cool if we knitted in the class.  A girl replied to my idea with negative comments and how she would drop the class if we started to knit.  I think it's important that we all change the stereotype that comes with knitters 'cause i'll bet most of the people posting on this website are teenagers.  I say we all spread the world with the new stereotype of knitters...young, crafty, creative, sometimes even punk, women.  Spread the word!!! 12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knit Wallets on: March 09, 2004 07:33:00 PM
For some reason I have the desire to knit a wallet.  I've never seen one and I thought I could fashion a pattern.  I'm thinking of knitting a piece of fabric and then folding it in half and sewing the left and right side.  I was then planning on using some regular fabric to make pockets.  If anyone has any ideas or ideas for yarn choices let me know. 13  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Knitting bag on: March 08, 2004 10:14:40 AM
I just bought the Stitch n' Bitch book.  I absolutely love it.  I needed something to hold all my glorious knitting supplies and this bag is perfect.  I suprised myself when I made it.  I haven't touched a sewing machine in seven years and my bag turned out really good.  It's a simple pattern and an ideal size for all your knitting projects.  Check it out!
