1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Isn't that just peachy?! on: July 28, 2008 03:03:05 PM
As I mentioned in another post, I kinda went a little crazy at a fabric sale recently! Smiley

This is the second creation of the fabric splurge!!
It's just a little knit cotton stretch material, nice and soft, with orange and white stripes!

I wanted a cute + comfy dress just to bum around town in.
This was originally a circle skirt with a boob tube at the top!
I then realized I had lots of ribbon that I'd just purchased!
So, I braided together 2 navy and 1 white ribbon, attached it just under the boob tube, and meant to use it as a belt!

Well, while putting it on, I pulled the ribbons up, and realized it was so much cuter if I cinched the boob tube to the ribbons, and used them as a halter.

I love it!! It's super comfy and definitely easy to throw on in the mornings!

Let me know what ya think! Smiley

I only have the one picture, and because of the way I'm standing, the bottom looks all sorts of crazy!  Haha just my luck!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / LBD - Little Brown Dress! on: July 28, 2008 02:48:58 PM
So my fabric store had a big sale, and I got some fabrics for $3, $4, $5 a yard!! Needless to say I got a bunch!!

Here's the first creation borne of my little shopping spree!!!

I made it almost a month ago now, I'm just so darn lazy about getting on the computer anymore!!

Anyways, please don't mind my nastiness in the pics, I did my best to cut myself out!! My mom wanted to take pics of it as soon as I showed her, after I finished it late at night! Sheesh...

Anyways, without any further rambling...
The Little Brown Dress!! Smiley

^^it really doesn't have any difference in the length of the front + back... I guess my arm maybe moved it up?? It looks quite silly in this pic though, but I'll promise it looks much more reguler in reality!

Smiley I'm proud!! It's a tad shorter than I had originally intended, but it's cute + wearable!  And soft!
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Peace, Love, and Splatter Paint :) on: July 04, 2008 04:05:30 PM
I saw a peace sign tee not long ago in my favorite store, Lucca! The peace sign was a crazy mix of bright colors, and I absolutely loved the shirt, except that it was $50!!
So, I created my own!!
I placed the pece sign differently than my inspiration shirt, just because it looked better this way, what with the loose V.Neck Tee!
I used freezer paper, sponged on a purple background, and proceeded to splatter different bright colors of paint on over the span of a week (letting each dry in between, and heat setting each!)!  At the very end, I sponged on a thin layer of gold for a little extra sparkle!

Work in progress!:

After removing freezer paper!
Some of the splatters snuck underneath the freezer paper, bleeding a little outside the stencil... This normally would bug me to death, but I actually ended up thinking it looked alright with the messy splattery theme:

And finally, me wearing it!
Forgive the flash... And the face! Eek. I had no one to help me take pictures!  This is just so you can see the position!:

Whaddya think!?
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Gigi's Wild Side! on: July 01, 2008 04:03:23 PM
So I have this super sweet pomeranian, Gigi, who has forever had a problem minding her manners!!  She's been a bugger to house train, and when I allow her to sleep out of her kennel, I usually wake up to find 3 or 4 of my favorite pairs of shoes destroyed!  Lately, however, she's been a sweetheart and been on her best behavior! So, as a little treat, I made her a little Zebra print bandana! Smiley

Modeling:

Dancing, since she was so excited!:

These, of course, are after she had already dunked it in the water bowl!
There's a pink satin ribbon around the whole thing for the tie, but you can't really see it in the pics!

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / fabric confusion!!! on: May 17, 2006 02:58:12 PM
what is the difference between jersey and any other knit fabric??  I love knit fabrics in general, and am hoping to purchase fabric this weekend to play around with, but I'm not sure if there's a difference between jersey + any other knit... so someone please unstupify me and help me out?!?! haha!! and also, what is the easiest knit/stretch fabric to work with?  I love stretch farics, they're so much more forgiving, and I would liike to make some clothes out of them this weekend!  thanks so much for any help/advice you can offer!!

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / black and gold twirly stripey goodness! on: May 08, 2006 07:06:12 PM
so i bought this fabric a way long time ago before I even had a clue what to do with it... I had just started looking on craftster and considering playing around with a sewing machine, and I thought maybe if I bought some fabric, I would magically get an idea!!!  Well, that was about 2 months ago!  A couple weeks ago, I decided what to do with the fabric (in between buying it and using it, I had decided that the fabric was much uglier than I had thought when I first bought it, but I still loved the feel of it!)

So last night around midnight I was bored and I whipped out the fabric I no longer liked and made my 2nd item clothing ever, also known as.....

MY NEW FAVORITE SKIRT EVER!

close up of the fabric... it is actually black and gold stripes in real life, and the gold is a tad bit sparkly

the shoes I wore with it... for some reason in tihs picture my toes look a teensy bit sausage like. not cool.

the outfit in all it's glory. i'm sad to say that none of these pictures do this thing justice.  I got tons of compliments on it today, it is the most comfortable thing in my closet, and possibly the cutest. darn these stinking pictures!!

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / HELP! with sewing machine on: March 13, 2006 08:42:05 AM
i have an extremely old green Kenmore sewing machine... it was my mimi's (my grandma) when my mom was young, and she let me have it a while ago... I just started raelyl getting interested in sewing about 6 months ago, and started actually using the sewing machine even more recently.  About 2 weeks ago, it stopped sewing correctly mid-shirt.  I'm not really sure what's going on with it, as i am not extremely familiar with sewing machines at all... Can anyone help me? i've tried everything i can think of..

10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / my first project!!! :) on: February 24, 2006 01:34:49 PM
okay so this was pretty simple, but i'm still SUPER proud of them!
today was the beginning of "Double Wolf Dare Week" at my high school... it's a week when the swhole student body raises money for a certain foundation, doing whatever we can... this year, we chose the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation!  during the week, we have random 'dress-up days' to keep everyone in the fun, money-donating spirit! haha!  today was hero day, and last night me + best friend/ boy friend couldn't think of anything to wear!! so i whipped up these neat little numbers:
