hey folks!  ok, here goes:

so did you handstitch??? i don't have a sewing machine - so i really hope i can do this...
oh - how long did it take ya???
no more questions... for now Smiley

i handstitched the sweater to the acutal shoe, but i used the sewing machine to sew up the tube/leg of the boot.  the actual project took not too long--about 4-6 hours total, spread over a week or so, but the first boot took longer cause i was feeling my way around.

So, I have these...Sandals Cheesy And I like the wedgy look of them, and I don't really like them haha, they need a new look.  How do you suggest going about doing this?  Here's some pics of them if it helps.

Maybe, I could sew it to the actual like flat of the shoes like, the black part that's all squishy Tongue  Also, would you suggest cutting off the strappy things?

hm, i'm not sure.  well, i'm pretty sure you should keep the straps, cause the sweater won't keep the shoes on your feet.  as to the whole sewing on issue, perhaps you should try to sew through the cork?  like, bend a needle and hook it through?  i don't know that you should sew the sweater onto the footbed, cause it might look funny?  but, i can't visualize it, so i am very possibly wrong.

i'll check back soon, so post again if you have (more) questions.  thanks to everyone for all the postive feedback, and happy crafting.

all right ladies and gents, i gots the goods.  ok first step:

cut out a square of sweater fabric that should fit around the shoe.

ok, prep the shoe for sewing by cutting out the top (if that's applicable) so you can reach all the nooks and crannies of the shoe.

then, start to sew the square to the shoe, right above the sole.  make sure to sew the finished edge of the fabric, or the edge will be all scraggly.

when you've sewn all the way around the shoe, turn the fabric inside out and sew up the edge, creating a tube.

after that, guess how you want the top of the shoe to look and sew up along the pins.

cut off the excess

turn the fabric so that the right side is facing out and voila!  you have the sweater boot of your dreams!

here they are on my loverly legs.

this was the lady who kept you all waiting.  you can't blame me, hm?

ok, so if you have questions, just post and i'll be checking back.  oh!  and post your finished boots!  i wanna see how they turn out!  so, sorry for the wait and happy crafting.

you can take a stinky old pair of orthopedic shoes and holey sweater:

and turn it into this:

what it looks like without a leg:

just sew the sweater into a tube attached at right above the sole, then turn it inside out and pin/sew to fit.
