1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sushi Monster Plush on: October 05, 2006 03:06:14 PM
I'm making stuffed versions of the mascot for http://www.sushimonsters.com and here's a picture of the first one.  He's a little over 4 inches tall and made out of wool/acrylic felt with movable arms/legs and posable arms.

He'll be for sale there too as soon as I finish up a batch and send them off!

So cute!!  Grin Perfect for Rida!  Did you use paint or markers?

I almost got Rida, but decided on Cornice, who needs new clothes as well.

For wight, I use rice in a well sealed bag or plastic pellets.  You can get the pellets really cheap from http://www.crscraft.com.

Instead of cardboard, you could use plastic canvas.  Since it's flexible, you could insert it after you turn it right side out.

This is how I do it :

Then sew up all sides but one and flip right side out.

It turns out like this:

Hope that helps Smiley

The nymphy girl is felt with unraveled wool hair and the mermaid is felt with novelty yarn hair, a Thai silk tail and fresh water pearls (which are hard to spot around her tail here).  Their faces are part felt, part simple embroidery.  Thanks for looking ^_^v

Oh cool, I'll have to look for the green kind then.

I would think polymer clay would work, if you ran it through a pasta maker to get an even thickness.

Styrofoam is not very cheap, at least when I look at Michaels a few months ago (for this project actually!). I figured I'd need extra for when I messed up. Maybe there's a better place to buy it..

Wigs aren't terribly difficult to make and you can buy the hair at many online doll making supply shops.

The first of my fuzzy round animal bags.  She's approx. 8.5in by 8in.  My first foray into posting in this section, usually I stick to toys and dolls.
