I haven't posted on fiberfriday in forever!  Here's what I did the other day-

Gwyneth
3 oz. Merino Wool - 173 yds.
Hand dyed, handspun by me
Worsted-Sport

But I've also been spinning a ton of other stuff too.  It just finally got on etsy today.

Here is some of my new stuff all together:

It's like a rainbow!

I'd post more pictures, but I've got to run to work.  I almost forgot that it was fiber friday!

Happy Fiber Friday!
Sigh.  I have gotten almost NO spinning done this week.  Every day I carve out a little chunk of time for it, but other things just keep popping in.  Bleh.  At least it is the weekend now (well, almost)!
But I did get some done, and a bit of dyeing.

First is a ball of yarn (126 yds, merino) that I spun half on my wheel, and half on my new drop spindle.  Since I don't really have the hang of the drop spindle yet, it's kinda screwy, so I'm just keeping it.  It's one of my favorite colorways, though, so its okay.

Also, I tried to put too much on the ball winder, so it's extra screwy.

The next is my first attempt at kettle dyeing.  Let's just say that it didn't go as I intended it.

The next is one of my favorite color combinations.  Mmmm green.

This one is actually three different pieces I did as a set- 6 oz. alltogether; I don't know how I'm going to spin it yet.

As usual, Jazzturtle, your creations are amazing.  Great colors!

v3nu5, I like the effect you got with the Wilton's.  I used to use Wilton's, but I could never get it to look that pretty.

LizzieMcGuire, I LOVE the second yarn you have.  Lovely.

Yberry, I think angel poop is very lovely (ha I never imagined I would say that).

Belladune, I LOVE the silk you spun.  Mmmm silk.

Here's what I've got since last night:

No. 014 - Hugo
4 oz. merino, hand painted

No. 015 - Estella
5 oz merino. - 111 yds.
Bulky - somewhat self striping?

No. 012 - Aurelia
3 oz. Merino - 234 yds.
Fingering

No. 016 - Penelope
This is what I am spinning right now!

5  Fiber Friday - January 9th, 2009 in Spinning: Completed Projects by ignorantamoeba on: January 08, 2009 09:57:51 PM
Well, one of my clocks says its Friday already!

Jude - 187 yds. Merino
2 ply
worsted

Abram - 4 oz. Merino

Cecily - 135 yds. Merino
Bulky/worsted

Augustine - 120 yds. Merino
Bulky/worsed

Aurelia - 4 oz. Merino
I did spin this one up this afternoon, but I didn't get any pictures yet. :-(

This is my first knit project (so far) from my handspun.  Its just a lengthwise garter stitch scarf.

I had the day off and spent approximately 14 hours on fiber.

As we speak I am dying 3 more sets.  I am kind of having a blast with all of this!

I can't wait to see everyone else's work!

7  Re: Fiber Friday November 7th 2008 in Spinning: Completed Projects by ignorantamoeba on: November 07, 2008 12:14:05 PM
Yay I actually have yarn to show off today!

The first is a natural black Jacob wool... I believe there are 260 yards here?  I forget.
There is some blue sparkle that I threw in just for kicks, but there aren't that many

The next is my favorite, handdyed by me with my new acid dyes!!
I don't have the label for the fiber content... I feel like it is corriedale and some other stuff?  136 yds, sport weight,

And this is some more dyed roving... I haven't spun it all up yet, though.

Does anyone know of a good resource for learning how to best achieve vibrant colors using Jacquard Acid Dye?

8  Half of my face is paralyzed: I knit an eye patch! Also, Talk Like A Pirate Day! in Knitting: Completed Projects by ignorantamoeba on: September 17, 2008 10:39:41 PM
I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy last week, a temporary condition where one side of your face is paralyzed.  The doctor told me to wear an eye patch (to prevent things from flying into it), so naturally I knit one.

Let me tell you, people, there has never been a better time to have the palsy.  It just so happens that Friday is Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I just so happen to look like a pirate when I try to smile:

Much better with a patch!

No, I am not ashamed to put these pictures on teh internets.

It is fully lined, interfaced, and weighted so that it actually hangs over my eye.  I haven't worked up enough courage to actually wear this in public.

I put the pattern on my blog!!!  And more exciting details!!!!!!

I dyed and spun these the other day.  I just plied them, and I really hate the result so I'm not going to post a picture :-(

Jazzybelle - I love "bellydance"

Ah, this is what I just did like ten minutes ago!

I haven't really been spinning anything worthwhile lately- what with getting married and moving and etc etc.

But this is approximately 60 yds of PURE LOVE:

100% wool (probably merino but I just can't be sure),
Plied with magenta cotton thread and metallic gold thread

Originally when I dyed the fiber I thought it looked like sky colors at sunset- the white puffs were supposed to be clouds.
But when I finished, I realized that it is totally not sky-like... its actually more like a unicorn.  Yes, I named this yarn unicorn (see how the puffs look like unicorn horns??!?  Maybe not).
