1  ASIA / Japan / Trip to Japan on: December 04, 2004 12:05:01 AM
My boyfriend and I are going to Japan in January, Nagoya to be exact. He's going to be playing cards the whole time, so I'll be left on my own. I need to know of some awesome places to go, things to do, stores to hit, crafting and otherwise, and the like. I'm completely out of my element here. I know nothing about Nagoya at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

2  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Vintage Simplicity 6408 on: June 05, 2004 07:02:20 PM
My mom has a billion patterns from her sewing heyday that I decided to steal. I call this one my new "skipping through a field of daisies with a cute boy" dress. It overall was a very simple pattern once I figured out how to make gathers. The tie in the back was sooooo hard though, but that's because I'm not the greatest seamstress yet.

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Standard Size Measurements on: June 02, 2004 10:28:34 AM
I was wondering if anyone knows of a resource for standard measurements, like, a size whatever is blank inches in the bust, blank in the waist, and blank in the hips, or at least a standard like that for small, medium, and large. I'm trying to take into account the people that have voiced concern about people making their crafts their size. I want everyone to look hot in my crafty gear! Thank you so much.
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Briolette Beads on: May 09, 2004 06:08:28 AM
I've been searching for briolette beads forever. My bead store doesn't carry them and every resource online that I've found is ridiculously expensive, mostly because theyr'e the natural gemstone kind. That's not what I really need. I just like the shape, I'd be happy with some regular old glass ones, or really any that don't cost $40 for a strand of 10. If anyone knows where I can find some, you'd make me a happy girl.

Thanks!

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Boy learning to knit... help! on: April 09, 2004 04:02:01 PM
My brother (15 years old) wants me to teach him how to knit this weekend because he hates family gatherings. He, being a male, is concerned about his masculinity and wants some "boy projects." Can anyone think of a good beginner project that isn't too girly? I was thinking perhaps a hat, he's not really the scarf wearing type. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / T-shirt Halter with EVIL BROCCOLI!!! on: March 31, 2004 04:56:32 PM
Well, I know there's a thread for this type of shirt somewhere, but i couldn't find it for the life of me. I apologize for starting a new thread. I made this awesome halter with ohmystar's tutorial and a stencil I made after I saw the design on a ebay tshirt that was waaaaay overpriced.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My First Stencils... they're all right. on: March 26, 2004 09:57:18 PM
Ok, I don't know how to make apicture show up on the actual board, so my attempt at letting you see the pictures is via this link:

http://www.ofoto.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=867086554103

and I don't know how to make it an "actual" link. I'm HTML stupid. If that's even what I would have to do, I have no clue.
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Wool Felt on: March 26, 2004 12:03:11 AM
Does anyone happen to know of a source for cheap wool felt. I went to Joann's today and was all psycked about getting some, but when I saw that A) it only came in big piece and B) that it was $9 a yard I panicked. I just want to make small little bags and appliques with them. If there's a website that has felt by the square for a reasonable price, that would rock.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Spanky Pants Pattern on: March 24, 2004 06:49:55 PM
Ok, I want a pair of what my friends and I call spanky pants. They're the shorts from the 70s that are really short and made of terry cloth, have rounded edges at on the outside seam... hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. Anyway, if anyone has a pattern or knows where one might be found online, I would greatly appreciate it. I could even trade you something knitted or crochetted or a fiend or my first born or whatever you want! Thank you in advance!
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Making Fiends! on: March 07, 2004 11:45:33 PM
There are these amazing flash cartoons at makingfiends.com and I really want to make some stuffed fiends from that site. Sadly I have no idea how to make a pattern or anything about sewing too much other than how to sew a straight line, really. If anyone could give me a tip or a good site that could help, I would beyond appreciate it. Thank you so much!
