2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: looking for a knitted scoodie pattern on: January 10, 2008 05:03:34 PM
There's a nice one on IK website in the free patterns section in the Staff Scarves download. It's called Garter Stitch Balaclava- although it is NOT a balaclava at all!

I know, I am craving that little item! I am hoping someone will translate before tomorrow as I am flying from LA to NYC and it would be perfect plane knitting!

Has anyone had any luck with this translation yet? I am in love with this and am hoping someone has translated it. Thanks

I did that with a scarf that cost a fortune in yarn, I learned that it's not just the heat that causes felting but also the agitation, so wool shouldn't even go in the dryer at all not even on air-dry.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting in Santa Barbara? on: December 29, 2007 06:27:09 AM
Thanks so much, I went to Loop and Leaf and found the most gorgeous new yarn from a company called "knitglobal" I bought the thick and thin chunky Shetland Flame . It's what Ysolda made the pale pink Urchin with and it is delicious, the owner said that she is the only place that sells it in the US.It is organic and dyed in Tea and other natural dyes. Go fondle it! They have a website www.knitglobal.com I think.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with Multi-directional Scarf on: December 27, 2007 05:41:54 AM
OK I have finally realized what I was doing wrong, now I am cooking along . It's a very simple pattern, can't post picture but if you Google "Diagonal Multi-directional Scarf" you should get the pattern -which is free. I am using some Variegated Malabrigo and it looks really cool.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting in Santa Barbara? on: December 26, 2007 07:03:15 AM
I am going to Santa Brabara tomorrow, just for a day and it seems like the kind of town that would have some good Yarn Shops, any info? I would love to get some artisan hand dyed. Thanks
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Best interchangeable circs? on: December 26, 2007 06:54:04 AM
My husband gave me Denise for Christmas and they are fantastic, light, smooth and the joins are sturdy. Plus , they have a pink set-the case not the needles, that give a % to Breast Cancer .
